Skyrim Crashing Immediately (Yes, another crash thread)

Post » Tue Jul 01, 2014 11:38 am

Yes I know, another thread about crashing, but I could not find a single topic, and believe me I looked, that describes what is happening.

What is happening is that, as soon as I click play via the launcher, even before the intro cinematic, Skyrim stops responding. Instantly, it doesn't work. Now, I only have Skyrim in the past, no DLC, and during the summer sale I picked up the legendary edition of Skyrim, that is in order to get all three DLC for $13. Anyway I haven't played the game for a couple weeks, but when I did it was working (this was before I bought the legendary edition). Now, I can't open Skyrim without it not responding.

Now to cover some bases, no, I do not have mods installed. I did, but the first thing I did was delete them. Yes, I did try re installing Skyrim, same thing is happening.

Any help?

Have you tried deleting Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini in your My Documents\My Games\Skyrim folder? And have you tried verifying your local files through Steam?

I just tried the second one and it said that there was one file that failed to validate. Although that itself still hasn't fixed the problem, as it downloads a file but doesn't actually do anything. Any time I verify local files it says that one file failed to validate.

Have you wipped anything from your HDD, about skyrim, the second time ???

I couldn't even load a character. Before the game even started it stopped responding.

It starting before the re-installation.

Nope.
