SKYRIM DEALBREAKERS

Post » Sun May 15, 2011 1:25 pm

a big one for me is the morrowind combat system how its done by percentage of a chance of a hit so you swing ten times and only three count..

Not sure what you been doing the last 5 years, but I can guarantee you that 100% of the weapon hits in Skyrim will be ACTUAL hits. The only thing that prevents damage is blocking, armor mitigation and moving about. Same as Oblivion, really.

As for dealbreakers:

I don't really have any, I know the game will be at least 8/10 which is enough to make me want to play it. I do however have some ideas about what the game SHOULD optimally be like though, but I'm taking that to separate threads (suggestions and whatnot).

Based on what some people have said, there's no reason to buy it if you're a console user. As much as I'd love to have mods, I'm sure vanilla will still be worth the purchase.

I can't think of a solitary (and realistic) deal breaker, but some things that would be a problem are fewer armor slots, less customization, and fewer unique (in name AND appearance) items. (I could be mistaken but,) it seemed like Morrowind had more items that weren't part of set. I liked being able to mix and match those up.

That's the thing I don't like about some PC users. They take their mods for granted, and if they don't get them they have a hissyfit.
Which is total bull.

Morrowind had more items period. If Skyrim has even less items then Oblivion it might make me not like the game very much, but it won't be a deal breaker for me. At least it won't be like Mass Effect were there are pretty much no items, expect for identical looking guns and armor.

I'm going to say for me, it won't have any. I'm going to buy it regardless.

Dude, Steam is the best direct download company in the world.

That title belongs to GoG.

Do they back up your downloads? When you buy the game do you actually OWN it? Does it automatically update your games. Does it have its own multi-player software? Can you install your games on multipliable computers at once? Does it have friends lists, and instant messaging? Does it have 24 hour customer support? And more? If it doesn't have just one of this things it's not the best in the world.

It has several of those things...and no DRM. At all. Period.

Thats a win in my books.

What do you me by Online? If they make it an MMO?

Yep, exactly. If they make TES an MMO series I will no longer consider myself a fan... but I think they've confirmed they won't be doing this, so I shouldn't have anything to worry about.

It being Steam exclusive would be a dealbreaker for me. Some games I don't mind on Steam, mainly indie games etc, but TES is far too sacred to put on Steam.

EDIT: i am adding this very late but it seems that PC gamers have a huge problem with STEAM.. i was just wondering why.. Im not a PC gamer but i was just curious as to why STEAM is so bad..i know what it is just not familiar with it

I have no problem with STEAM and infact I love it, if I can I usually buy games through them, their sales are amazing!!! and you have your games available on any computer. Sure you have to be online for the first login, but after that thers offline mode that works great for me. I don't know why people don't like it...

EDIT: On topic however, dealbreaker for me is if its actually just an empty box with a note inside saying "Made you look. :P". Boy would I be pissed.

Only three things could make me never buy it.
-If it's not available for PS3
-If it's only multiplayer
-If the player doesn't have total freedom over when and where to save the game
But I'm pretty sure I don't have to worry about these things.

If it has game-breaking bugs and never gets patched, I'll still buy it, but not the next ES game.

Since i don't want to depend on anybody else to use my goods i won't ever buy what depends on Steam or GfWL.

No girls mother in my bed and no games distributor on my drive will ever ruin my fun or life. Seriously, no discussions, no negotiations PERIOD

Today's MMO are [censored], but I don't think they will always be.
MMO just means there are a lot of people playing the same game online, If it were well done in every way 2x better than any MMO already made, and without sacrificing what makes a TES game (besides single player), it would be great. You could still join the guilds, the map should be many and many times bigger, you could have your own house, you could fight people in arena, watch real players gladiators, explore, have jobs (like a imperial guard)... Sadly when I think MMO all that come to my mind is "kill 10 rats and return for your prize", "Dark Forest (level 15-20)", thousands of people in the main square of cities selling overpowered weapons and too much high level people.

im saying if they used the morrowind combat system where at low levels a small percentage of hits actually make physical contact then that is a dealbreaker.. i never said thats what they are putting in skyrim..if you dont know what im talking about with the morrowind coin toss combat style then go play it because its pretty blatant

"based on what people of said"
He was saying it IS worth it on Xbox/PS3.
I'm kind of glad there's no console because when there is I tend to cheat..
"Oh? Medical upgrades in NV?
12000 caps are you f'ing kidding me! Well, maybe I could use the console... no one will know..."

I can state one thing that would, and probably will cause me to not buy Skyrim - the developers selling out to the hardware industry and making the system requirements so high that I can't run it on my 1 year old PC. I'm tired of game makers always expecting their fans to buy a new system every time they release a new game, and Bethesda has been doing this for years. I love TES, and I loved Morrowind and Oblivion, despite what some people consider to be flaws, but if Bethesda isn't going to optimize the game engine to run on older systems, well, no money from me. I play games like this strictly on PC because I love to mod and play mods made by others. I own a PS3 and will NEVER buy a TES game for it because they don't support modding on console systems (even though it can be done - just look at Little Big Planet 2 - some players actually made a minimal, but running copy of Windows inside that game). I run a laptop and upgrading my vid card is impossible. If it won't run on this system with at least decent graphics, then no, I will not buy TES 5.

@ Porter Justice

You brought up earlier that if your game snaps in half that would be a deal breaker which reminded me that the newer xbox 360 game cases (the ones where you can see the white of the paper case picture) seem to cause my discs to crack in the middle (i'm responsible with my games) so avoid the new game cases and swap it out with a different case (Mw2 and Black ops discs of mine have broken likes this New vegas is also cracking to just like the previously listed discs) So be on the lookout!

You should of seen my MW2...
Then again it takes a LOT of damage for a game to not even run with it downloaded to your HDD.
It took a good 8 months of damage for my MW2 to be unplayable. My Black Ops is fine though.. so I don't know if it's only with some cases or a few of them.

I don't think there's anything they (BGS) would do that would break the deal for me. :celebration:
... unless they make it like more than $100 for just the vanilla game. .. than I'll just wait for it to come down some. :whistling:
