I don't see why people are getting so surprised about this. As much as we may tell ourselves otherwise, the Elder Scrolls fanbase does not constitute the entire video game market, obviously, we're looking forward to Skyrim, we wouldn't be posting on the forum for a game we don't care about, after all, but not all gamers necessarily feel the same way. Now The Elder Scrolls is hardly an obscure series that only the so called "hardcoe RPG fans" care about, but I think there are still games with greater mainstream appeal out there, and if it's a mainstream gaming website, of course these games are more likely to make the list than Skyrim.
Some of those games on that list, such as the upcoming Final Fantasy title, are games which don't really interest me, others I'm interested in, but not as much as Skyrim, but I have no dillusions that just because Skyrim is my most anticipated upcoming title at this time that he same is true for everyone, and I don't think it really matters. This isn't, or shouldn't be, a popularity contest here, I don't need everyone to play the same games as me. Naturally, I want Skyrim too succeed, as this means more money for Bethesda's next project, but it doesn't necessarily need to beat every other game on every poll on websites that aren't dedicated to the Elder Scrolls to begin with.
