Skyrim DLC Exclusive to Xbox 360 Unfair?

Post » Sun Oct 02, 2011 6:48 am

I recently found out that the first two pieces of DLC will be exclusive to Xbox 360 for a while. Do you think this is unfair to players on Playstation 3 and PC? Or do PC players get the DLC on the same day as Xbox 360 players?

Exclusive is exclusive. Xbox will get the 1st 2 DLC 30days before anyone else.

Of course it's unfair. And no, I don't think PC gamers are getting the DLC at the same time as the 360 this time around.

But it's only exclusive for what - 3 months? (EDIT: Oh, only 30 days? Now I REALLY don't care.) And the substantial extra funds Bethesda receives from Microsoft could really help the development of other titles or DLC for Elder Scrolls, so I'm not bitter. Besides, we PC gamers will have free DLC (aka mods) to tide us over in the meantime.

Not really "unfair" because Microsoft paid for the early DLC. On the otherhand, I don't imagine DLC a month early is enough incentive to persuade customers to buy it for Xbox if they prefer PC or PS3.

This is just business. People are making a mistake by taking this personally.

I'd say it's unfair to the PS3 players. That's about it. PC players get mods. But I'm sure it won't be long until PS3 players get theirs.

I thought it was just 30 days. Which is pretty much nothing. I plan to still be playing skyrim 30 days after release.

I don't really think it would matter a great deal to many PC players, but I do think it's unfair on the ps3 players. I'd feel annoyed if it happened to me, (I play xbox360) so I sympathise with anyone it will affect.

Not unfair, it's a bussiness Strategy by Microsoft; They buy limited Exclusivity Agreements with Activision, Indie Devs, Bethesda, etc, instead of making more exclusives. So technically, in a bussiness sense, it IS fair.

Is it fair to PC or PS3 users like myslef? We'll get it eventually, but no, it kind of svcks. The upside is that, in having to wait a month, We'll be able to play with fewer Bugs (I.E. 360 owners who get the DLC first will encounter the bugs, a patch will be made, and We will get said patch at launch.)

We could go into how it's not fair that the 360's inferior (FACT) hardware is holding Bethesda back, but that's a whole nother Flame War.

Posted this in a previous topic but it is still relevent:

I am a PC and 360 gamer and will likely be getting Skyrim for PC:

Now I don't see what the big deal is, ok so the 360 gets the content first (key word being first not exclusive) and only for 30 days. You will still get the content anyway so what is the deal?

Ok maybe it's the principle that you feel Bethesda is treating you unfairly compared to 360 players...... ok maybe that has some truth. At the end of the day though Microsoft must have paid Bethesda money in order for this to happen and in the end that is good for all of us because it means more money for the next game Bethesda make (most likely Fallout 4), all developers need money and this is just a way for them to make it.

If it was exclusive then I could understand the reaction and it would be totally unfair but it's not. It's 30 days and in the mean time anyway there will still be things in Skyrim for you to do anyway.

I will wait like every other PC or PS3 player but I will look forward to it with excitement and not resentment :tes:

Plus PC has the advantage of mods anyway something 360 will not get for at least this gen

So what if Microsoft paid? How do players benefit from it? It's still unfair to PC/PS3 gamers. But since it's just a month I don't really mind much. I just hope that the following DLCs won't follow the same rule.

I guess its unfair to us PC users but at least we have mods and better hardware than the 360. What I don't understand, and this is from a business perspective, is why Microsoft even bothers to get these timed-exclusive deals, since I doubt it gets so many more customers than they would without these timed-exclusive deals. I guess it gives Microsoft bragging rights and it makes them more competitive, but that's about it.

Life isn't fair. Does complaining make it any better? No.

MS payed money for it, and Bethesda accepted. It's not like they'll lose fans for doing that, we all know that they'll still buy the game.

Hell, I think it's unfair that Twisted Metal is only restricted to PS3. But Sony pays good money to keep it PS3 only. That's business.

Sorry if I came off harsh, but it is what it is.
