Skyrim DLC!

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:34 am

What, or where, do you think Skyrim's DLC will be at?

I know it's early, really early, for this kind of speculation, but I've finished up a ton of the quests in Skyrim, and I wanna know what's next! I loved Shivering Ilses and Knights of the Nine from Oblivion, and I know Bethesda will shatter expectations again for Skyrim's DLC.

So what do you guys think it will be about?

Personally, I think the perfect place for a badass DLC would be the Nordic island of Solstheim. It's about as big as Shephorath's realm, judging from the map. It fits into the Skyrim era and culture, but it's also really mythical, and not alot is known about it, so it would be a playground of new ideas, people's, and it's own sets of myths and legends to make a story out of. If Beth doesn't make a Solstheim, I definitely will when the CK comes out.

So what do you think would be a cool place/questline/story for possible add on releases in the future?

Solstheim was done as DLC for Morrowind.

itd be pretty hard to shatter expectations now that everyones seen that you can explore
all of an uninhabited untouched tamriel just by leaving skyrim (with the right console commands of course)

Solstheim was an expansion to an already existing game.

Honestly, I think DLC should start with a nice little mage tower, the main point being introducing spellcrafting

Morrowind: Bloodmoon ;) anyhoo im hoping it's for something good, the Landmass in the game for the rest of the province's are most likely for Modder's.

I'm thinking something that deals with the Thalmor a little more indepth, perhaps Summerset Isles.

understably but now that everybody has seen it alot of people expect DLCs
and they said they were going to focus on larger less frequent content

I predict a Magic Pack (adds "new" spell effects like water walking and new summons, and spell-crafting) and a Weapon Pack (adds new weapons like spears, crossbows, and throwing weapons). Of course, you would have to explore various long-lost caverns to unlock these.

That's true, the size of the DLC is supposed to be roughly somewhere in between Fallout DLC and the Shivering Isle's Expansion for Oblivion.

As for the landmass, someone pointed out in a different thread (this is not a direct quote, just a quick gist of what i remember) - Morrowind and Oblivion had mod project's aimed at creating the entire land mass of Tamriel, making the land itself took a lot of effort so it's likely Bethesda added in the landmass so they can simply just add the content.

I'd like to see spears make a comeback... How can you fight a dragon without a spear? Just doesn't make sense. :P

I myself would also like something thalmor related. Maybe a war between imperial or stormcloak skyrim against the dominion.

Also, does the idea of leaving the continent of Thamriel seem at all plausible to anybody?

That would be pretty awful. No tiny DLC for me, please. Just well-made expansions.

I want an entire expansion, I don't want a freaking castle or a mage tower. I want a WHOLE expansion like they did with Morrowind.

Ya it's not really an expansion to me unless it adds hours of gameplay

I'd imagine now that it would involve the Thalmor to some degree, or possibly Hammerfell, they have been introduced tantalisingly in Skyrim as a plot point with characters and quests.

Personally, I'd like to see Orsinium. They've mentioned it's sack by Breton armies and the evacuation of the Orcs, it would be interesting to see some measure of political intrigue over controlling that land.

The orcs themselves have recieved quite a makeover, and we've seen their stronghold architecture and society in Skyrim. Orsinium would give Bethesda the chance to make a city based DLC similar to Tribunal or the Pitt, with the unique metal architecture of the orcs that could be a refreshing break from Skyrim's wood and fur.

While this sounds like a nice idea Beth is - above all else - a commercial enterprise. It would seem illogical (commercially) to spend that much time, effort and expense on designing and implementing something that large, and not even use it as a selling point. Why hid it? The only logical conclusion would be that it was designed with future profit in mind - namely DLC
