Skyrim Economy With Jobs?

Post » Thu Feb 17, 2011 10:03 pm

What do you guys think about an Ingame - time changing economy?

Like u can buy food, silks, weapons, armor and other stuff and then sell them in other city's/towns for more/less money?

And citizen kind of jobs? In my opinion it would make the game more fun and realistic in its own way.

And taxes? what about that?

These things would be fun for city's: Public executions, robbery's, wars, and loads of shops!

Sorry for my bad grammar.

I'm all for dynamic and living economies.

The maker of Enhanced Economy should get his own Daedric Prince of sixAwesomeness, for making such a brilliant and wonderful mod.

Dynamic economies has already been presented in OB/MW. It depends on your mercantile\speechcraft skill.
I'm against the citizen jobs idea. Your supposed to save the world and kill dragons, not to clean the floor of the bar in town daily. Although it would be Okay to have some easy side jobs sometimes, like carrying chopped wood for someone.

Yes indeed, but they would probably make that kind of side job for only 1 time not for maybe like 1 time a week (Game time).

A more dynamic economy would certainly breathe a lot of fresh air into the game, and going by the small information released thus far

I think it is possible to say that a few of the features you ask for are indeed included such as 'citizen' jobs, you can forge weapons / armor and also cut down trees

so in fact you could live out a mundane exsistence if you desired, also it has been stated that different Cities rely on varying resources to sustain themselves, so

It is possible that say City A produces a lot of apples so they are cheap while City B produces very few making them more expensive in that City but making one of there

predominant resources cheaper.

WTF??
I'll say it in another way: Citizen jobs in the game will be boring after some time.

not for me, and hundreds of other players that like to role play a character in TES. And just because they were there does not mean you have to do them, like everything else in the TES series you could choose to ignore them completely. Some players like to become a vampire, i personally hate that idea. That doesn't mean they should take out the option just because a lot of people will never use/do it. Do what you want, when you want, how you want. That pretty much sums up the elder scrolls ethos, adding actual jobs to the game would support that ethos. just my opinion.

Agreed, I often times made characters like "Bob The Drunk" in Morrowind because people would react to what you did in it. I would run around naked with a [censored] ton of beer in my inventory fighting mud crabs and rats. I ended up beating the game with him with 100 unarmored and 100 hand to hand. He was one of the most fun characters I ever played, and I rarely was the "Chamiorevarikhiin" with him. He was a normal every day drunk who just happened to be blessed with the strength of the Nevarine.

Having an upgraded economy i think is essential for skyrim. Everything else is ultra realistic so the economy should be too. I liked what they did in fallout where you would see a traveling merchant at randoms times. I think bethesda needs to beef that up a little for skyrim. Id like to see changing prices on different items. Trade routs would be needed with caravans moving between and say, a week after a merchant hits one town and on to the next the items in stores start to lessen and become more pricy. Killing off a merchant heading to a northern region to supply essential items would be a strategy for a shadier kind of player to sell goods to that town for high prices. Bethesda really needs to do something with the economy cause what they had in oblivion was weak as hell. I didnt like the bartering skill represented how much items cost... that should still be a part of it but that doesnt mean thats the whole economy. its gotta be changing constantly. this is suppose to be a realistic world after all. how many of you played suikoden? in that game they had an ever changing economy. prices fluxuated and if you were smart about it you could proffit hugely from that system. thats just proof that it can be done. between a better economy and a wicked gardening system i think i would be putting in 50 hours in just those types of activities. I think it would be increadible to see traveling merchants heading between towns and knowing that once they sell their items it will effect prices in that town.

The economy aspect is one of the biggest considerations for me with Skyrim and I would love to see improvements. On that thought, I'm sure we have been informed that we could destroy a towns crops etc in order to reduce their economic effectiveness and folks would have to purchase from another town. If this is true (I have no idea where I remember hearing it from) this has so much potential, and would mean that there is a very complex underlying economy.

It would appear mthey are moving towards that way if not implementing it entirely. i'm sure we will hear much more about it before release.

The only thing i'd like to see in the economy is varied prices between regions. If a plant is only available in the north, it should be more profitable to sell it in the south, ect.
