Skyrim Ending

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 5:03 am

It has been officially confirmed that after the game ends we will be able to continue playing. Maybe it is because I am a longtime fan of fallout so I am used to a game ending at the ending (seems like that should be common sense). (the only FO game which broke this was FO3 which was not that great anyway). I hope they change the game so it ends when the main story is over. Keeping it so it allows you to play after the ending can makes it so the story is not evolved or like Fallout where there is a ton of different endings for the main quest.

Well in thread 2 I decided that to see how popular this idea truly is to add a poll, because of the heated debate in thread 1 of what the majority wants and dos not want, lets see what the people truly say.

Yes, to not be able to play after beating the MQ in a TES game is ridiculous, this is not Fallout. For those who do not want to continue after the MQ can do just that, stop playing after it's over, while the majority of TES fans who wan't to continue to play will be unable to if they implement this feature. Look forward to Fallout 4 for an ending like this, not a TES game.

One thing I love about TES is that you can continue after finishing the MQ...but I always sort of lose the will to play my current character after beating the MQ. :teehee:

I'm just happy we have the option!

Your idea wasn't popular in your last thread - it will not be popular now.

Sure, the game isn't all about the main quest anyway.

Hell, it can be played through in roughly 2 hours if you know the tricks and odds!

I hope this thread remains open, I think jimtremr should see the results, I get the feeling he takes the most popular view at a given time and goes with it, kinda following the trend, not really thinking for himself.

My vote has always been and always be for an open ended game in an "OPEN WORLD"

The OP voted no lol.

But yeah, I don't know the reason for having a second topic on this. The results will be the same, poll or not. Its just going to invite more flame and spam.

The OP wants a definitive ending, credit roll, start new game or load last save to continue, no thanks.

FO3 only let you continue if you had the Broken Steel DLC, haven't been paying attention but I think there's one for New Vegas too which allows you to continue.

But the game ending once you finish the MQ is just a stupid idea and I'm sure 99% of this forum will agree with me.

I would hate if the game ended after the main quest.

again...
First, Fallout 2 let you continue as well

second...
WHY?!

Why is this better? What's the point? How would the story be incomprehensible if you can continue? Why would this remove multiple endings?
Just WHY?!

Oh and did this really need a second thread? was the answer not obvious in Thread 1?

Also, by "Long time fan" do you mean you started with Fallout 3? I'm guessing so because you could continue in Fallout 2. Get your facts straight.

I can't believe OP goes around spouting how great the Fallout method of ending a game is and tell's people who hated it they don't know what they're talking about then goes right into telling TES fan's how our games should be.

If you want the game to end after the main quest then end it yourself and erase the game or something. You don't have to keep playing.

For a game that emphasizes the side exploration and optional factions a major facet of the game instead of the main quest being the most important and the rest just being icing on the cake, it makes more sense to let you do other stuff after the main quest, IMO.

Sure, if you get too far ahead in the main quest you could save before the end and go do other things, but I don't think it works as well from a narrative or believability perspective to get up to the final boss and tell him "okay, you wait here while I go finish up everything else. See you in 20 more hours!"

They could do more in the ending if it...ended, but I don't think it would be worth it. I'm not that big of a fan of those slideshow summary endings anyway.

Fallout+Endng= Fail... Fallout 3's ending ended my fun! It makes t an incomplete game, what do do after I beat it? Create a new character and play it again only to look forward to being brought right back to the main menu??? You are an idiot...

there is no ending
you can finish the main quest and continue on and on and on
it gives you a chance to finish up side quest or just live in that world for awhile

on oblivion i played it on xbox360 it counts the saves
not the number of games played mind you, my saves are well over 5500
i would finish the main quest to get it out of the way
and then do all of the guild questes and others,
i played obovion on all three platforms

oblivion was my introduction to the xbox 360 and i played it for a year straight
then started gears etc

but that is what i loved about the game i could play it, my way
do all the guilds skip the main quest etc etc

i love the no end of the game idea
