Skyrim Extension Borderlands

Will Skyrim allow eventual expansion beyond the boundaries of the game ? I mean will the game eventually support extra cells added ? Or is all blocked sealed and limited to Skyrim area only?
And mostly When you reach the borders what happens? The Annoying message you can't go further this way ? Or is instead better hidden like unclimbable mountain ? and eventually sealed mountain passes that may be some modders could open?

I really don't care either way. The game takes place in Skyrim. If you try to leave and go to Cyrodiil, that's your own fault. Won't break immersion for me at all if I hit an invisible wall at some point telling me I can't go on. It would probably break it more if I found that there were giant mountains blocking me from the other provinces. How the hell does anyone come and go?

I would prefer geographical borders. Skyrim's borders are http://img826.imageshack.us/f/skyrimmap.png/ anyway, with only the coast open up north.

Also, wasn't it said before that "You can go everywhere you can see" or something like that?

Geographical borders would be stupid IMO. It would be ridiculous that an entire country would be entirely surrounded by utterly impassable walls (people actually do go between provinces lorewise). That just doesn't happen and would seem silly. Plus you'd need another ridiculous excuse to avoid borders when you swim along the coastline around the mountain borders.

Invisible borders are the simplest and most logical way to do it.

I wish thats will be how modders then can expand if there will be hardcoded borders?

That message was really annoying, endless ocean and high mountains will be better, but after all with mod we can pass Jerall Mountains and reach Bruma.
About opened border, thats hard chose from one side I'd like to see Hammerfell and High Rock from other side after
Spoiler
destroying of Vvanderfell
in The Infernal City Morrowind become even more desirable to visit.
But how about Black Marsh, Akavir, Elsweyr, Summerset Isles and Valenwood?

actually great mountains as borders are fine - they could destroy all the passages and say that the dragons did it!
about the coastline.... fish that kill you if you go too far! =)

Well, there will have to be invisible walls because there will always be that one player who will manage to get up the mountains somehow and go into the "leftover terrain zone".

Will the invisible walls have a message associated with them? Probably. I mean some players need the game to tell them why they can't go further.

This. It is a lot more immersion-breaking when mountains are forced down upon the borders, even though naturally, treaties are usually regarding landmarks like mountains or rivers. Basically, mountains are fine but there must still be roads to other provinces.

I really don't mind how they seal your path, while they make it easy to put away that restriction for mod added lands.

I prefer environmental barriers. Mountains on most borders, the routes blocked by avalanche. As for water, I think a giant fish that swallows us would be epic. A warning message would be nice though.

I'd like to see the borders get opened to the west into High Rock and Hammerfell. I want the main expansion to be set in the homelands of the Orcs! The Wrothgarian and Dragontail mountains respectively.

As for game borders you break "immersion" either way. One hand you have everything surrounded by tall mountains and endless oceans. Which makes no sense, there should be roads leading into the other provinces. People do travel between them. Or on the other hand you get a *You cannot go this way, turnback* message and a invisible wall.
I hate both but they are needed because the gameworld can only be so big.

I'd rather have roads that have border forts (or something) on them that effectively close the road off. with some guards at the gate that tell you the border is sealed due to the civil war.

Or a mountain pass that's blocked by an avalance.

Or a tunnel that collapsed in a dragon attack.

Basically give me some good in world reasons why I can't leave skyrim.

All you have to do is change the BORDER INI from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0. Saves on mod space.

Or they could do like those old ATV games where if you got too close to the border of the map it just launched you in the opposite direction :P

i liked the mountains in the north in oblivion....i hate a message telling me where i cant go because I can physically SEE that the land is perfectly flat and easy to walk on, yet i cannot cross....i prefer geographical borders, allthough not on all sides...
