Skyrim fairly constant micro stutterlag

Post » Thu Aug 08, 2013 4:09 am

In Skyrim I got this fairly constant stutter. Every few seconds (1-5 orso) while moving its like skyrim skips a few frames. A constant micro lag/stutter. Though on rare occasions it plays fine for 1-2 minutes.
While playing skyrim my cpu is doing around 50% and my gpu hardly 60% usage. Playing windowed mode or using a frame limiter didn't work.

The weird thing is that bf3 plays flawless. I have done a clean install of windows and this didn't fix the problem either. I have got 2 hd radeon 7850s in crossfire, but I've got it disabled. I tried removing the second graphics card aswell, but that didn't help either. I also tried using a single processor, but that only added a weird horizontal disturbance in the screen.

My drivers are up to date. I'm using the new amd 13.8 beta driver with the pacing ability, though that only effects play while crossfire is enabled.

The problem occured after I had installed my seconds graphics card and also reinstalled my drivers. I've no idea what's causing the problem.

Although the fps isn't related to the stuttering, sometimes the fps of skyrim drops to 40 fps while the gpu and cpu stay around 50% usage. (also note that it's around 50%, they are not capped)

Here are my specs:

PSU: Corsair gs 600
GPU: 'HD radeon 7850 sapphire dual-x' (x2)
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K
Motherboard: asus p8z77-v lx
RAM: 8GB
HDD: 2TB
SSD: 60GB
Case: CORSAIR Carbide Series 300R Black ATX Compact PC Gaming Chassis

Thank you for reading and I hope someone can help me out.

This game, like most games, does not benefit from dual video cards. In fact, dual video cards can exacerbate the issues. Disable Crossfire for this game.

Have you tried to reduce your resolution?

I think one Ati 7850 can handle that kind of game very well.

Can you install only the one Ati, and lower your reslolution?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why i say this is because, i have micro stutters too if a travel in the open world, but happens every 5-10 seconds, and then it's normal again. So that don't bother me much.

The game works fine so far, i am level 17, no crash, no broken quest, and i haven't any mods either. (only the official HD textures)

Have you any DLC's installed, and if you have, are all official and unofficial patches installed?

It can be a fault adjustment from your graphic card. (i mean graphic properties on your Ati Catalyst Control panel.)

Have you tried to Verifying your Game Cache Files trough steam?

I too have this issue! I took the grass fade down in hope that it would get better but it didn't! And my computer packs more then a punch to play the game.

Are you using the Stutter Reducer?

Have you tried Windowed Mode?

I even removed 1 of my graphics card physically out of my pc and that didn't help. I don't have any mods or expansions. I have the latest patch. I have just done a clean reinstall from steam and I have done a crapload of adjustments in amd catalyst control center. Also I've got a fps limiter. I tried using radeon pro and used to option of flip que size. Skyrim autmotically assigns my graphics to ultra high and I used to be able to play without stuttering. With msi burner I can see that my gpu usage is between 50 and 80%, but it stutters... a clean installition of windows didn't help either and I had both my hdd formatted.
