11/11/11: Skyrim Feast

Post » Sat Sep 24, 2011 7:48 pm

I'm devising a feast to celebrate for the release of Skyrim. I've already decided on a heavily spiced meat, spread of vegetables, freshly baked bread, and sweetrolls for dessert. I need the forum's help to fill in the blanks. What would the people of Skyrim eat for such a momentous occasion?

Summary:
What meat?
What spices?
How to make sweetrolls?
Anything else to make?

I need suggestions! And please be serious people.

EDIT: I know a lot will say mead but sorry, I don't drink anymore. I plan to make my own soft mead.

EDIT 2: I'm looking at A Proper newe Booke of Cokerye for more ideas :foodndrink:

Rum would be a good drink, and a split pea soup with diced ham in it would be very Skyrimy. I would also recommend a blackberry cobbler for dessert and maybe aged cheese on crackers would be good. Smoked Salmon would be a good main course, with lemon and herbs used for flavor.

For you serious role players, try real life skooma (biker meth).

-Pork.
-Cover it with honey, add some moustard grains and/or pepper before frying it. The medieval way :)
-No idea...not used to cook desserts, sorry.
-Don't forget the mead :)

I always imagined a Sweetrole as a Cinnabon,
I would say Chicken for meat

maybe some potatoes (mashed still count lol), peas, weightless carrots, Mead (actual mead) cant quite think of any more to add.

Definitely need a hog on a spit roast.

Maybe some venison?

Make some strong alcoholic drink and call it skooma

Wait, are you a hunter? Kill a deer and eat it's heart liver, and other meaty bits. Walmarts often have a gun section for you to get a hunting rifle. Get a .30-06 or a .308 Winchester with a scope. You will also need a gutting knife and something to hang the deer up with, as well as some butcher paper.

I have plenty of guns [mostly Russian: Saiga-12, Mosin-Nagant, etc.] and knives for hunting/gutting/skinning.

I would say leg of lamb for a Skyrim feast - but you have to eat it right off the bone. No cutlery!

Also, a nice assortment of cheese and fresh veggies might be good. Especially carrots.

I'm not exactly sure what sweetrolls are. Maybe like a hot cross bun?

For a non-alcoholic beverage, you could have hot apple cider, eggnog, or wassail. :foodndrink:

Pizza. Pot pies. Something easy I can just throw in the oven, as I'll be waaay too busy playing and won't wanna actually cook.

Oh, and some Ben & Jerrys for dessert.

get a bunch of tankards that will really add the nordic touch (and maybe later you could get some of that sweet, sweet skooma) :foodndrink:
