Skyrim File Size

My original prediction of 26gb doesn't sound so farfetched anymore.

I still doubt Skryim will be more than 12-13GB on the PC. I think installed it will take up less than 10GB.
I really havent been following Rage, but if there are cutscenes then that will take up quite a bit of space. TES games really dont have cutscenes. (Except maybe 2-3)

Rage is much more texture-intensive than Skyrim. Skyrim at most will be 15GB uncompressed.

Doesn't really say anything, sure the devs have the same parent company but they're totally different games with different play styles and wildy different in-game assets.

I'm hoping it will be no more then 15GB, my SSD is filling up really fast lol. I have a feeling I may be taking out my Optical Drive for another SSD.

The witcher 2 had 16gb and about 39 hours of gameplay
I find it weird that Rage have 21 gb, judging by its characteristics

Same, I am currently using a 60GB drive, (30 for OS and ~30 for programs and documents really). I am thinking about popping in a 120GB drive....maybe.

I heard that out of those 22GB RAGE has, 8GB of it for the Multiplayer alone. Skyrim = No Multiplayer. 22-8 = 14GB. My Theory about Skyrim being about 15GB seems more real :D

my d/l rate was sitting at 1.4gb and the thing said 6 hours.. I was like wtf, then looked at the total size and let out a bigger wtf. Trust me, I feel the same way. Hidden game demo included maybe?

Edit: oh right.. mutliplayer, makes more sense now.

Haha ya, I though my 120GB would be fine for everything on my laptop but after 3 games installed I'm already under 60GB. I'll probably pick up a $100 60GB SSD for my optical drive as long as we don't need the disc to play like In Oblivion. Did you need the disc to play for fallout I never played any of the fallout games?

Rage preload is 21.5gb, what does this say about skyrim?

Nothing, really.

Different games, different game developers, Skyrim is one disc on X360 & Rage is three.....

Heh. I remember playing Ultima 1 on my Apple ][ in 1980. It came on four discs.... 140K discs. :D

That one was on sale two weeks ago for $169, I picked it up then. I don't know how you guys survive with the 60gb ones, I struggle to keep space on it .__.

It says that Skyrim is Skyrim, and Rage is Rage.

RAGE's engine uses a new kind of texture technology, so the textures take up a much larger amount of disk space.

Skyrim does not use the id tech 5 engine, so this is not a concern.

Also, comparing Skyrim to the Witcher 2, Skyrim will not have very many cut scenes (or perhaps no cut scenes at all). In comparison, Witcher 2 has a lot of pre-rendered cut scenes that take up more disk space.

Hours of content =/= Increased File Size

Quests don't take up very much disk space at all, especially when they don't use pre rendered cut scenes..

It helps having ~4.5TB of mechanical HDDs for all my other data too.

Rage has the more detailed textures and cut scenes for one. For two that file size is Single Player, Co-op which is it's own campaign, and multiplayer.

Yeah I was just pointing out that file size tells nothing about a game size (in the generic meaning of the word)

Skyrim could be 10 or 30, who knows..
