Skyrim for TES3

You're better off using the Arena map if you want a lore accurate map.

Hi,

I've used dfferent maps for skyrim - The Arena Map for the Original Towns, Villages and Places (I've started to play Arena but I've not finished yet), Vality's Map for the Holds and a very detailed Tamriel Map for the rest...The climate in my skyrim is not 100% like in Arena, cause if we should do it 100% by the lore, Skyrim is over 90% covered with snow and ice. I did the weather and climate regions more freely cause just snow and pine forests on 2000 cell is more that boring for the player...there are large regions with different forests, glaciers, very rocky regions, farmland and much more...I love the TES lore, but I'm but a lore buff

I will post new screens in the next 2 or 3 weeks, cause now I have more time to work on

Markarth Side is the biggest of those 3...Karthwasten (I'm working on it thesedays) is a little smaller and Snowhawk is just a village.

Okay, i think you might be right..
i was in doubt because looking at these three maps,
http://www.piksu.fi/games/keskipalsta/oblivion/oblivion/minibigmaproadslore31gv.jpg
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i201/Vality7/maps/Skyrim_Map.jpg
http://www.imperial-library.info/maps/arena_skyrim.shtml
-Well, the first one states that Markarth Side is the biggest.
-The secound one says its Karthwasten which is biggest.
-and the third says its snowhawk.

I don't think any of them are the biggest city, I don't recall any lore on them, but if anything we have the arena map which shows that Snowhawk is the biggest. I think that they represent the capitals of each hold, and capitals change over time. During Arena it was Snowhawk, which as you can see on the Arena map is big, and during Oblivion it was Markarth Side, which in Arena was a smaller village. In many countries on Earth, the biggest city isn't always the capital, and capitals do change.

In my mod I chose Karthwasten simply due to it's location, as I said earlier, I based my map and locations on the terrain, plus due to the scale of the mod I didn't want two big cities so close in that area, so I chose the furthest city which was Karthwasten.

At first I want to express my amazement about what has been accomplished here.
A few things:

Skyrim is large. You will be working for years (if you do proper detailling) and yet you will only realize your own view of what Skyrim is if you work all alone.
But since Daywalker helps you and you plan to establish a website on this, you're on a good way I guess.
Your project will definetively require the support of other modders if it is to become more than just a giant playground. This is at least my opinion.

You have built a lot of amazing landscape. But what made Morrowind unique and original, in my opinion again, is the way it has pictured the darkelvish culture.
What plans do you have on this as regards the nordic culture?

Hi,

Daywalker is member of the Team since the first day of the project...I will add everything form the TES Lore about the nordic culture, but also elements from the viking culture, cause in my opinion the are very similar...When I started this hugh mod in 2008 it was never planned as a fast release. It will take a few years, but over 60 % of the exterior will be finished till the end of this year...The mod team is around 12 members at the moment and it's growing, but is hard to recruit new exterior builder, cause Skyrim should not look to different from claim to claim, that's the main reason why I personaly do more than 70 % of the exterior work alone, but I've found some very talented exterior builders who have also that passion for high detailed landscapes...also interior builder are always welcome, cause there will be over 100 Caves, all towns from TES1:Arena, 7-9 Castles, Falmer Ruins and many, many more...thanx to you guys and girls who decide to help out the last 2 month...it is a honour to work with you.

Cheers Lestat

Since TR makes continuous progress and OpenMW is also on its way this might become quite interesting :)

Apart from Equipment and Architecture there is a lot that I see that can be added to this province to make it as unique as possible.
My knowledge of the Tamrielic lore is rather limited but I have often had the idea of adding a Slawish flavour to certain groups of the nords.
The first thing I had in mind were women headscarfs (but no muslim ones ;)) and otherwise unusually colorful clothes.

Are you going to create different nord groups? I have no idea if this would be supported by lore. But you might create new lore anyway.

There are 2 nord clans: The Wolf Clan and the Bear Clan, they are spread over skyrim and enemys for centuries...The Player could join one of those clans (but only if you're playing a nord) and after 20-25 Quests he can become warlord of his clan...The final of the clan quests is a brutal battle in a canyon where the player and 10 strong NPC (Lvl.100) have to fight 150 enemy warrior. During the test the 10 NPC warriors died till the last quarter of the fight...it is possible the win, but you need a lot of fighting experiance and a mass of potions...this mod is definitly NO mod for older PC's, cause without a modern hardware it seems like a dia-show

I haven't found anything on this at the Imperial Library, so I guess this your own idea. There is nothing wrong with this as the nords seem to be organized in clans. I suppose the Bearclan Nords do wear bear armors and the Wolfclan Nords consequently wear wolf armors.

But anyway, only two clans in all Skyrim?
Even if this had an evidence in lore I would aim at more diversity. Solstheim is much smaller but is inhabited by at least 3 Nord groups: The Thirsk People, the Skaal and the Berserkers (there are also witches and highwaymen).

New sorts of flowers and bushes would be especially nice. And new nordic furniture+clothing.

(I hope) you will make the best of it. :goodjob:

I do not think that the solstheim people really refers back to the skaal. What I think the skyrim people refer to is when Ysgramor and his family that ventured from Atmora to Skyrim. The nords were a viking, nomadic people that excelled in the new world and even over threw the falmer.

The land of skyrim does somewhat resemble solstheim in some of its holds, this screen is http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt151/Ragnarok7/oblivion/skyrim/Skyrimone.jpg on how the land looks in the colder parts. I am current working on a claim for lestat. The land doesnt really need to have like new trees and flora but that would add to some detail. Adding all sorts of new objects is a good idea but try to remember that in a large team, you need to budget your options to complete more important areas of work. You shouldnt try and load up on creating whole new objects and armor for a new region as bethesda and free sources provide their own work to adapt from

Also, Lestat is using the Arena map which is the best map for a geologically correct vision of skyrim. You can add your own view on how it should look but remember that we are also working on recreating skyrim as Bethesda described it to be.

Here are some WIP screens of my claim. I am currently using most of my falheim textures but I will be making new ones because i didnt like all the snow(sorry lestat). I just felt like you dont have to express cold with just snow textures.

I will be spending a few more days (probably 9 or 10) tickering around with some new textures for the landscape and rocks...possibly new tree bark too if i take some photos of tree bark soon.

Cool stuff,

you did a very good job...feel free to use the textures you like, cause my basic texturing was just a guide line for climate...

Yeah, good job, I'd say too and good decision it was, that you're on the team now!!! B)

But I got also some bad news. I can't complete my work on "TheRift" as I had planned it, because a hardware component of my pc seems to be not able to deal with the merged .esp Lestat provided me. My CS crashes each time I try to load one of my claim-cells. Lestat tested the .esp on different computers and also let other team members do tests, but they don't had problems with the .esp at all. Must be my old laggy hardware. :(

So I have to skip the landskaping part and now will concentrate on creating an architecture style for the ancient falmer ruins, so that you guys have something to explore and LOOT lateron!!! :P

Thanks Daywalker,

I will complete your work in the Rift personally. I will try a different style of landscaping in the Rift, cause I should look different than the glaciers at the Northshore, West Haafinheim and Winterhold.

I did a few minor alterations to some of the rock textures. I was orginally going for a white rock texture like vality has in his snow parts of skyrim but it wasn't working for me. So i did a little messing around and came out with some whitish brown but still resembling their rough appearance.

Well thats all i will be uploading as for right now so I dont spoil too much. My claim is coming along nicely and im happy to help lestat in this long project.
