Skyrim for TES3

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:32 am

Hi Bethesda Community,

this huge mod had started originaly in the german version of TES3 Morrowind 9 month ago, but the german community is to small and most of them fear large mods, so they won't take part in modteam which is big enough to realize a mod like this in less time. Because I'm frustrated about that situation I took the hardcoe of the Skyrim-ModTeam and moved to the english-version community.

Here is a short description for my mod for you. (Please excuse mistakes, I'm not a native speaker)

Skyrim is located in the west of Vvardenfell and the Mod takes care about the Morrowind border of Tamriel-Rebuild Map5.
We build the WHOLE province, including all towns, villages and locations from TES1 Arena. The whole exteriorlandmass is about 2000 cells. I've finished nearly 200 Cells by myself, during the last 9 month. We plan to add a large mainquest and 150-200 sidequests to the mods, but first the exterior had to be finished.

All the screenshots you find below are my own work.

This is cool so far. Very large undertaking to be sure. I personally will not be joining this as I lack the time. But I fully encourage all of you to press on and see what you can accomplish!

@ Daywalker

Hi, your message was the last kick I've needed to quit the german community. Read my PM for more details.

@ ElvisX3K

Thanx, but I know Vality's Skyrim Project. I discovered it 4 month after starting this mod...but this is not a reason for me to stop a project you like.

@ MaMeeshkaMowSkwoz

From now on everything would be in english...dialogs and cell names. I break completly with the german community, because of their lack of interest on hugh mod projects

@ Midgetalien

Thanx for your Tree Golem. It fits perfectly in the forrests of skyrim...the falmer ruins are a pretty good idea, I improve my 3d modeling skills day by day and the falmer ruins are now on my personal "to do" list.

If you have more creatures which would fit in the forrests, snow deserts of glaciers of skyrim, please contact me.

@ Note to the Community

Thanx for you interest in this short time (I've opened this topic 12 hours ago).

This feels more home to me than the german community ever did!

In first line "Skyrim" will be a hugh quest mod with a qualitiy landmass. I wrote down nearly 100 questideas, but if you have a idea for a good nordic quest feel free to send me a message and if i like it, i will add it, but all i could "pay" is a note in the ReadMe.

First of all, welcome here. :)

Your screenshots look very intriguing, and it's also very reassuring to hear that a substantial amount of work has already been done, so the project is not just a glorious short-lived idea (we do get such projects here from time to time), but apparently something you already invested quite some work in.

You'll need help to complete such a project. You've entered a large community now with many people capable of helping you, however, be aware that many people are already involved in other projects, or may have been burnt by past projects for which they did some work, which then never saw the light of the day because the project died. For getting help, it's crucial to convince people that you *do* have the standing power to see this project to its end - describing its progress and giving screenshots is already a good start. It will probably take a bit of time to convince people that your project (and your dedication to it) will stay, but if you manage to do that, then you can find a lot of help here. Don't be disappointed if people are a bit skeptical in the beginning, see it as a challenge to convince them that your project belongs to the 10% that will make it through and not to the 90% which collapse under the underestimated workload. :)

Regarding Skyrim mods, one question that you'll be asked a lot is whether your mod will be compatible to Tamriel Rebuilt / Silgrad Tower, since these are two very popular mods which border the Skyrim area. (Edit: Upon re-reading your post, I see that you already took care of that - very good. :) )

Regarding the German community, let's not forget that this community produced Arktwend, while similar projects in the English community all died before they could be finished. That said, it's probably true that the English-speaking community, simply by being larger, currently offers better opportunities to recruit members for such projects. (Personally, I never really entered the German Morrowind community, but that was probably due to the fact that I was always using games to improve my English rather than getting worked up about the horrible German translations of many games ... ;) )

Oooh! Do want.

It's like stepping out my back door (I live in the woods). :P

I have no experience doing exteriors and stuff. The limit of my talents is some very rudimentary manipulation of item properties and not-complicated retexturing (but, I can't UV map for the life of me). The best I've got are ideas, and even those aren't always good. :P But, I try to be inventive, and I'll definitely post ideas, if you don't mind. Also, if you are searching for resources to use in your mod, try using http://search.yacoby.net/, a search engine made by Yacoby that searches most of the main Morrowind mod sites, as well as a few smaller sites.

Thanx for all!!!

Is there a webpage where I can read more about the geographic of Skyrim? For now I spend the main part of my "modding" time on Haafinheim and The Reach, but I have not really a idea about the environment at The Northshore???

Also I've been looking for a while for Zyndaar's "Freedom Keep", but without any sucess! Does anyone here have this old modder resource?

I think it's safe to assume that the geography of Skyrim would be similar to that of Solstheim, meaning in the south it's a lot of forests and hills etc, and further north, green gives way to white and foliage lessens: snow plains, glaciers, etc. would most likely dominate the far north, as well as more frequent and violent snowstorms.

I can't wait to be able to visit Solitude!

As far as I know, one of the two only official maps known is the one from Arena, as displayed in the http://www.imperial-library.info/maps/maps_skyrim.shtml. The whole area is mountainous, with the highest peaks marking the southern border, only the westernmost part of the province looks a bit like lowlands. The other one is from the Oblivion Codex, and it shows the peaks in different positions.

The Imperial Library also has two pages from the Pocket Guide to the Empire that might be helpful, http://www.imperial-library.info/pge/skyrim.shtml and http://www.imperial-library.info/pge3/skyrim.shtml - but you probably know these already.
