Skyrim French coverage summary

Post » Mon Feb 07, 2011 7:33 am

Were there any new screenshots or concept art pics in the article? If so, can you describe them?

Yup, many, but things like Marcath side or that time-lapse art troll pic. All of those we had seen, either in GI or online.

How come gi got the world exclusive and has no where near as much info and precise info as this?

All the info we had before was GI's : so I don't get what you mean. Of course it was more precise and more abundant. :) I'm glad though Bethesda was clever enough to show each magazine a few new things.

*le sigh* :P

- Dead mammoth (online)
- Warrior + dragon breathing fire (GI mag)
- Hero in even armor (for once) lighting his way in a cave (GI mag)
- 1st person view, left hand fire spell + mace(grapnel) in right, against wolves (GI mag)
- Marcath Side (online)
- Ice wraith (GI mag)
- Statue of greybeard (?) (GI mag)
- Hero + giant spider (GI mag)
- Giant (GI mag)
- Perched dragon (GI mag), here, I must say it looks more like a screenshot. Pretty, too bad it's a tiny pic.
- Warrior with sword on back + hooded foe holding axe or scythe in a doorway far in the right (you know, that one bottom left of page 52, GI mag)
- Archer + deer (GI mag)
- Larger view of that assassin stabbing that guy (GI mag)
- Troll + hero (online, time-lapse vid.)

Happy ? :lmao:

I mean how come these international mags have better info when gi had the world exclusive? Gi should have had all the precise info being the world exclusive. International mags have precise info on how many minor cities and the number of dungeons. They also had the info on each town having its own economy. Gi didn't mention anything about that either. Gi didn't have as precise of info on the conversation system. This is all very important stuff and some how the world exclusive failed at giving us that?

Thanks for your effort! :tops: Great new info.. Does this "cause-consequence tree for each mission" mean that story won't be linear this time, but based on our previous decisions?

Ah, I see what you mean : look, GI had all the biggest chunks, you gotta admit it. All those precise things, those are details that fill in the blanks, which precisely answer questions the GI coverage left us, you'll notice. Gotta keep it so new info will come to renew interest. That's why Italian and french coverage details don't overlap. It's PR planning. Plus did you want it really "Big US mag gets it all, european mags get to repeat" ? That's less of an incentive to give the game a big echo in Europe than "hey, those few things ? You'll be the first to tell the whole world B)".

With internet, what's the difference anyway ? You know it a few hours after we do, just like we knew a few hours after you did. :)

-Markarth is indeed one of the 5 cities, or at least a small city. There are caves underneath it...

-Dialogue is simplified (REALLY? HOW MUCH MORE SIMPLIFIED CAN IT GET?)

My goodness, I hope it wasn't trouble for you to list these pics!

wow, I didn't realize the GI magazine had so many pics that haven't been published online. Now I'm tempted to buy a copy. (or at least peruse it at a bookstore.)

I REALLY hope there will be some way to increase jumping ability if acrobatics is gone, at least give us a perk for it. It would dampen my enthusiasm a lot to lose one of my favorite parts of the ES series, I love having a super acrobatic assassin.

Thanks for taking the time to post this information.

I like that you can no longer repair armour in the field.
I can't wait to see the new types of weather. I really enjoyed FONV environmental effects.
I believe Athletics and Acrobatics will both be removed, hence the working in the article.

I'm glad they are going to have generic NPCs with no Dialogue. They really make the world feel lived in. As longs as guards and other named NPCs can tell you where stores and other NPCs are, I'll be happy.

The economy bit is interesting. I have a feeling somehow this will tie into the civil war going on. I suspect we'll get quests from one side to go destroy the other side's manufacturing capabilities. Take out their mining faculties and that whole region (not just the town) could suffer. I raises interesting game dynamics. Imagine not being able to buy any more armor or weapons in that region anymore. Shops could close down, blacksmiths could go out of business. Now you have nowhere to get your stuff repaired in that part of the world. Then again, maybe I'm just over thinking hoping for too much.

The "cause-consequence" stuff sounds interesting. We'll have to wait an see if there is any significant effect though.

I'll only be excited about finding a new place if I don't get the message 'You have found..." popping up on the screen. I'd say that probably 60% of the time I found a new place in Oblivion, I had to spin around 360 degrees to see what I just found and even then, I couldn't see anything. I had to keep looking around for the door. I don't call that exciting. I want to stumble on a place, not be told "you are getting warm, just keep looking you'll see it eventually."

I'm not sure how I feel about testers marking the most beautiful spots. I like to explore and discover such locations on my own. If the place has a good vantage point, that also generally implies that you can see if from elsewhere. It would seem to make ruins trivial to find. I like stumbling upon ruins. In addition, those are the places where modders like to build houses. We could end up with a lot of conflicts. We'll just have to wait and see how they handled it.
