Skyrim... in French!

Post » Wed Jul 13, 2011 2:18 am

So some how I accidently changed the friggen website to french... and I am unsure how to change it back.

Fortunately, I was able to witness the awesomeness on the main page...

Ladies and gentleman... Skyrim, in French.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDlxBaXSZd4

...this begs the question, does the 60,000 lines of dialogue include other languages?

Are you asking if they are including other languages to pump up the number? No

There will be 60,000 lines in whatever language it is translated to.

I'm like 95% positive this wouldn't be in the game, but wouldn't it be cool to change the language? for those of us who are multi-lingual haha

I'm assuming you said copulating homosixual there and I have to agree wholeheartedly. The French Esbern sounds ridiculous. There's none of that gravel in his voice, it's more of a fine sand, as gravel would disrupt the delicate texture and aroma of his Bordeaux. The German trailer doesn't sound quite right either, but at least their translation of Dovahkiin sounds badass: Drachenblut. Sounds cool and rolls off the tongue better than "dragon-blooded" would in English. They both need more gravitas.

Max von Sydow was a good choice for Esbern. The man could read a Denny's menu and make it sound like the most important thing anyone has ever said.

I wouldn't dream of it. For one thing, you have much better beer. If I ever go to Quebec I will probably need an entire day set aside to visit the Unibroue brewery. I don't care if they don't do tours, I'll just wander around the property taking pictures until security tells me to leave.

No, but the king of Skyrim will, and then all of its badass citizens will sneak around firebombing Alduin's bases and assassinating his dragons and deftly hiding away pieces of the world to rescue it from him.

French people don't experience anger, it's beneath them. He's terribly annoyed by all of this world ending stuff.

I can't even find any information on whether Skyrim will have a full Spanish localization. I don't think Oblivion did. At any rate I can't find a trailer.

So a French-translated Skyrim would be a stand-alone game, yes? If so, I'll buy both my English version and a separate version. All hail the French........... Ha. ha. ha.

As a french person, how did you find the trailer linked in the opening post?

as a non-french speaker, I thought the voice sounded good, but the actual language used didn't sound convincing, to me as an English speaking listener.. Neither did the German version (although I do take German at school)

On a similar vein to what others have said, it did sound a fair bit like a French man telling his wife how much he loved her.

This.. this is horrilbe! They translated it in a really bad way.. Dragonborn is there 'fils de dragon(s?)' which means 'child of dragon(s?)'. I could only understand half of it, but what I understood sounded really lame. But that's probably because I find french to be a lame language on itself anyway.

Well dragonborn litterally mean ''Drakeide'' which i dont think it mean anything cause a drakeide is a dragon man '' scale and stuff'' while a dragonborn /fils de dragon is a man with a dragon soul

- I am a french canandian too so some european french translation can even sound strange for me -
