Apparently classes and attributes have been eliminated.

To my knowledge, it has not been confirmed that attributes have been eliminated.

does anyone know if they used console screenshots.......... or PC screenshots?

Hard to tell without any HUD elements, at least in the screenshots I've seen, even the menu screen doesn't have any indication of which buttons to click to navigate (if it were a console, maybe it is PC?).

Apparently classes and attributes have been eliminated.

In the article todd mentions something about the school of magic and how mysticism was cut so I think classes are still in?

Just how big of a spider are we talking about? Large as a man, or larger than a house?

Like... the size of two horses

Attributes are still in the game but I believe they are only Health, Magicka and Stamina now. But don't quote me on that, just inferring that from the article. I can however confirm that classes are STILL in the game.

Classes are not eliminated rather you don't just "pick from a list" like games gone by. Instead whatever you use you get better in. Your class is much more naturally obtained by playing however you want to play. Use a lot of melee...your a warrior type. My way of thinking about it is EVERY player will be using a custom class now. They just develop the skills rather then picking them at the start. They said they do still want archetypes which is good IMO.

I like it and it still works with how the old systems worked.

What we have learned so far (copied from MrTamarian's Got The Magazine thread):

Spoiler

Confirmed Features:

-2-handed weapons and duel wielding confirmed.

-Finishing moves, unique to each weapon and enemy you fight.

-Dynamic Shadows

-Kids

-Overhauled Combat-system Example :(Dual wielding spells, able to pick diffrent spells for each hand, or put the same in both for a more powerful effect.)

-Improved Faces/Improved Models Example: Faces have been dramatically overhauled. Characters now exhibit more emotion show of distinctions between different races and just plain looks better.

-Radiant AI

-Updated Engine Snow falls dynamically (not as a basic texture on the ground)
Trees and branches move independently with the wind
Water flows and huge draw distances !

-The game takes place 2 centuries after Oblivion

-Initiating a conversation between a NPC no longer zooms: Quote (Conversations aren't done in a zoomed in static shot anymore. Start a conversation with some and they will act like someone would in real life, looking at you occasionally and walking around a bit and also continue doing a task if they were doing one while talking.)

-Sprint is added !

-Beards

- 10 races to choose from

- confirmed creatures: zombies, skeletons, trolls, giants, ice wraiths, giant spiders, dragons, wolves, horses Elk, mammoth, saber-toothed cats

- presumeably open cities (as dragons can attack)

- cooking/farming/mining/woodcutting/blacksmithing

-Hud-free first-person view and improved third-person perspective

-very unique landscapes! Also unique dungeons! In other words, lots of uniqueness!

-Character creation improved, body features customizable

YES YES YES YES OMG I CAN CRY I'M SO HAPPY :touched:

*ahem* Ok, my reactions to certain things that caught my attention the most:

Dual Wielding: BOOYA! To all those crying about it being impractical: IN, YOUR, FACE! :toughninja: I'm glad this is in and dual wielding spells and weapons sounds amazingly fun.

Finishing Moves: Awesome! And not only that, weapon and enemy specific moves! Woo! This is a nod towards improved animations as well which is one of my biggest hopes for this game!

Dynamic Shadows: Add a point for atmosphere.

Kids: Aaaaand another point for immersion. Immortal or not, the mere fact there are children makes the world better IMHO.

Overhauled Combat: Dual weapons, dual spells or mix n' match, point is combat sounds so much more fun. Can't wait!

Improved Faces/Improved Models: YES YES YES YES A THOUSAND TIMES YES!! This was one of my biggest fears and I'm glad to see Bethesda worked on this.

Radiant AI: Oh lookie who's back. Gonna actually do what you meant back then this time Mr Radiant AI? We hope so. In any case, improvements to AI is always welcome.

Updated Engine: Sold at dynamic snow. But still, what about rain? Assuming it does rain in Skyrim?

2 Centuries Later: Okay, glad that's true, otherwise I'd have to change my roleplaying tactics haha

Initiating a conversation between a NPC no longer zooms: YES! Man how we've waited for the day we'd hear this! No more creepy uncanny valley zoom in!

Sprint: About bloody time!

Beards: No real surprise but glad to have it confirmed.

10 races: Seems like the usual suspects: Imperial, Nord, Breton, Redguard, Khajiit, Argonian, Orc, High Elf, Dark Elf, Wood Elf. Can't wait to see their improved looks.

Confirmed Creatures: Seen the images and they all look amazing. Dragons especially, my jaw dropped when I saw my first image of one. Also like to point out Ice Wraiths are extremely cool (no pun intended) looking.

Presumably Open Cities: Seriously?? Please be true please be true please be true...

Cooking/Farming/Mining/Woodcutting/Blacksmithing: Aaaaand another point for immersion, which is always welcome.

Hud-Free First-Person view and Improved Third-Person Perspective: Sounds great!

Unique Landscapes: Unique dungeons too? NICE!

Character Creation Improved: WE CAN CUSTOMIZE BODY FEATURES NOW?!?! OMG OMG OMG *faints* No seriously, another thing we've been hoping for. This is great!

Ok, please give the dev team a bloody raise, they have so freaking earned it!
I kowtow before the greatness of Skyrim

So do we know who kills the blades, or who the main opposition will be? Besides the dragons of course.

I'll take that as a no... Funny, everyone is jacked about the small things, but don't even know who the enemy is.

I was talking about Strength, Intelligence, etc. I don't think it's confirmed that they are out.

And classes are out. Todd said "Gone is the restrictive class system of earlier games." He then continues to talk about not picking major skills, but just using the skills you want to use as you go. I guess those skills would define your "class," but as an official title I think classes are gone.

My impression is that classes were removed and you just now use your skills and improve what you want, meaning you don't pick a class but play how you want from the start.

I'm almost certain that it is the console version. Even though the screenies I saw were grainy I could distinctly see low AA around the edges of the characters. So I'm certain it's the console version, so the PC version should be even better looking. But as I have said many times and I will reiterate here, You cannot decide whether the graphics of Skyrim are bad until you see the game in true HD and see the gameplay in true HD. Just be calm until they show the game in 1080p and best graphics then we can all celebrate in the forums about how it really does look insanely good.

From what I read I was almost certain he was talking about classes. I'll go read again but I'm pretty sure he was talking about classes and the impact the change in skills would make. Give me a sec to confirm.

I don't remember reading anything about beards being confirmed?

There are images of at least one skeleton with a beard, a mountain giant with a beard, Fallout 3 had beards, and it's Skyrim :P I think we'll have beards.

Also, where does it say conversations don't zoom anymore?

On the page with the foxy barmaid lady. "For those that played Oblivion and Fallout 3, your most immediate concerns about NPC dialogue can be laid to rest. Conversations no longer occur in a zoomed-in view of the person you're speaking to, and Bethesda enlisted far more voice actors to keep the repartee fresh."

Haha whoops, my bad mate. But hey, there are worse things than getting excited for a game that's shaping up to be as awesome as this

"and Bethesda enlisted far more voice actors to keep the repartee fresh."

O.O

My prayers are being answered!!! :touched:

Read my in depth explanation of several of the features in Skyrim on the first page. Mainly the AI part, I think you will be even more excited.

Read it, and I'm trying not to run around like a caffeinated hamster due to my excitement xD

Good thing that my 'main character' of sorts became the Nerevarine then; age will never be a factor ever again.

It's way larger than a human, and very creepy...

I saw that...it will help my character look even more badass. It would be awesome if you could somehow use this fact to block attacks from behind you.

Yeah I noticed it but I didn't think anyone but me was bothered by the fact that shields in Morrowind and Oblivion stuck to your arm at all time

In one of the pictures; was that a werewold or a troll? At first I thought it was a werewolf but then it just looks like a more "realistic" troll. If you look carefully it has more than one set of eyes i think. And they did say they improved how trolls look

Anyone else concerned with the "finishing moves"? If you have a favorite weapon it's probably going to get old real quick seeing the same move/animation over and over again...
