Skyrim Game Informer Thread XVII

According to the employee leak a few months back who was completely correct on all the Game Informer information we have now, the game also takes place (at least partially) in either Hammerfell or High Rock (I don't remember which one), so the world will probably be larger than Oblivion's

What leak? And they would have mentioned it in the GI article if it was taking place there in addition to SKyrim

Didn't Todd say something in the GI about it also taking place in Cyrodill or did I just read that wrong?

Well if they let us visit parts of other provinces, I hope we get to see some of Morrowind. And the game better be huge so that the scale doesn't feel ridiculous.

“As Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion took place in Cyrodiil and not the actual realm of Oblivion, Skyrim shall take place in Cyrodiil again."
This confuses me.

I read the article and didn't see this stated anywhere?

In the magazine the three scenarios were

1) The item lays forgotten in the mud
2) Someone picks up the item and returns it to you
3) Two people fight for ownership of the item

It sounds like Bethesda worked out some of the kinks in their Radiant AI system.

Thanks! Sound cool.

Did the wasteland or the city feel smaller then oblivion in fallout 3 ? no right, thats because its all in how they drop the layout and the scale of quests, dont know how to explain it better then that except to say all of fallout was actually smaller in scale land wise then oblivion.

Dont say its false but unconfirmed as of yet, and in most TES games you do visit other areas, you are not solely confined to the one area, true they are usually available after an expansion, but all the games so far wound up with some out of area experience sooner or later.

looks like the perks are anologous to talent trees like in World of Warcraft (for example). i don't think they're be quite like fallout's perks. look at the screenshot displaying the skills and constellations, each star of which (according to Todd Howard) represents a perk

- each skill has a perk tree associated with it.
look at the screenshot - skills are at the bottom, and destruction is highlighted. above this skill list are stars. there are bright 'baseline' stars, above which are lines connected to other stars. the centre constellation has bright white lines, and behind it is a symbol of hand representing fire - this must be the constellation representing destruction.

- the perk tree has multiple paths, indicating specialization is possible within each skill.
eg conjuration has four lines from the bright baseline star. eg there may be an armor summoning path, an undead path, a daedra path, etc.

- perks requiring multiple skills are possible.
the magic skills in the screenshot are not alphabetical - presumably so displaying perks requiring previously-earned perks from multiple skills is less cluttered. such perks were in fallout, of course

If this is NOT a joke, then its possible that the game takes place in cyrodiil (maybe northern cyrodiil) and Skyrim. I honestly am confused by this myself, even though I heard many say its a joke.

Mournhold and Solstheim were both still in Morrowind...
