Skyrim SE getting a new Strategy Book

Post » Sat Oct 29, 2016 11:31 am

I know a few people were asking about this, and it's now confirmed that Skyrim Special Edition will be getting its own strategy guidebook.

https://www.primagames.com/games/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/official-strategy/return-skyrim-hd-special-edition-walkthrough-strategy-guide

I haven't seen the original guide, so I'm not sure how much has changed or been added. But I assume all the DLC stuff will be new.

(sorry if this is old news)

To make the game easier than it already is?

Well, I suppose the illustrations and the lore sections might be nice.

Thanks for posting it I might look to see if it is at my local EB games. Hopefully it is not that expensive in Canada

It's probably for newcomers who want to try this game but are used to today's more modern ones or have maybe never played an RPG before.

Why...

Its exactly the same as before, unless the new lighting system illuminates rooms for sneaking a different way <_< lol

Heres 150 pages of new sneaking routes you can use the new lighting system to your advantage :3

Bonus 10 pages of shooting your bow through the new fog system.

I had the original guidebook and that thign was of no help at all. But this one makes me think that just maybe that there is new content. I've heard secret hidden content a few times from others.

Meet the new guide same as the old guide. With that being said, I'm picking that puppy up. Wanted to replace my Legendary guide anyway.

Not the original original. It was all in this one though:

Strange price for Amazon... £72.91 is obscene unless it's out of print now.

Unless it has exclusive art, I don't see the point. I have a leather bound art book from the original pre-order bundle anyway.

I'm not too sure about that. A couple of YouTubers by the names of Cam and Seb released a vid last week where they played for two hours on the Xbox 1. if you watch the video and pause at 15:25, you can see the Torturer's Hood in their inventory. An item that can only be obtained through Console commands. I took a screen cap.

That's known about and is discussed at length in another topic.

What we can't ascertain is whether it was made lootable deliberately. All we know is that it is lootable, though it could be on purpose it's equally possible it's a thing that got overlooked in the transition to the Fallout 4 engine, or any of a number of other possibilities.

Yes I already know that from another topic and a different vid (better than the Cam and Seb one). I even pointed it out lol

I doubt they changed a lot of things though despite the many rumors that it was going to end up a remake. From what I've seen in some long playthroughs of it nothing has really changed except the graphics and possibly new loot. Older players would probably enjoy discovering all the new stuff on their own, so that's why I logically think the book is more for the new people.

Money obviously, surprised you even need to ask lol. People will pay for it enough to make it worth publishing or they wouldn't do it.

It still gives me hope that we console peasants can finally get our hands on the crown that goes with the ancient elven armor set. I wanted it sooooo badly.

You could probably have just modded a save file through the PC version of the game for that, assuming it doesn't screw up like Serana's Hood. I know, I know, you haven't got a beefy enough to play on PC... Neither did I, but I at least had the processing power to stand still, run a command, and then save and exit.

I'd message you how to do it but it's probably rather pointless two days from SSE's release.

I suspect I'll eventually find a Ps4 mod that allows access to those items, either through trading or otherwise. I appreciate the sentiment though. :)

Yes, hopefully. Will the Xbox One and the PS4 have access to the in-game console I wonder? That would help immeasurably. I presume you can connect up a keyboard for those consoles.

You can! Actually support for using a kb/m was recently added for normal gameplay on playstation. I wouldn't have a clue where to start though, the only thing even close to coding I've ever done is creating website profile themes and music related things.

I got the large hardback guide for Skyrim on 11/11/11. I think I've gone through it twice. Now it just takes up a lot of space on my desk. Really not that helpful when compared to what you can find for free on-line, plus it's not 100% accurate either. So I think I'll pass on this.

To be honest I'd be more interested in an art book, maybe with some detailed bios on some of Skyrim's more interesting characters. Maybe some prints I could pull out and frame. That I would buy, though no doubt someone would scan it and upload it somewhere for others to steal, but I'd still want a hard copy of that.

The Skyrim console on PC has a very useful "Help" function, which will give you ID's for certain items, included that of modded items, among other things. It comes in handy.

Well, according to the Torturer's Hood wikia page, it clearly says that the only way to obtain it is via Console Commands.
