Is Skyrim going to be another port like Oblivion for pc user

Post » Sat Jun 11, 2011 11:41 am

I rly hope it won't be, cuz i remember i had to buy new pc to play Oblivion cuz it was ported and it was not optimized at all, i think untill 11.11.11 they have plenty of time to optimize it for pc and if not well, its gona be very disappointing.

The 360 and, to a very slightly lesser degree, the PS3 version weren't all that well-optimized, either. It does not have anything to do with porting, really, Oblivion was just a very unoptimized game. Skyrim is running on the same hardware (360 and PS3) as Oblivion did and looking much better, so it would seem that Skyrim far more optimized, but I can't say just how much that will carry over to the PC version.

Another one of these topics?

...

They give us mods, which end up making the PC version significantly superior to console versions. Stop whining.

He/she's not asking for tesselation, he/she's wondering if the game will be optimized enough for him/her to play it. It's a valid concern.

What does that have to do with my statement and how would you expect the forums to continue existing without repetition?

As for whether the OP is asking a serious question about whether his/her PC can run it or not, seeing his/her specs and having a rough idea of what settings Oblivion ran on for him/her would be useful.

repetition is fine and dandy once a thread reaches it's post limit. until then, repetitive new threads do nothing other than clutter the forums. they also don't allow for a nice discussion flow as it's spread across 50 different threads.

both the issue of being a port and pc specs have been discussed in great length. it would just be nice if people did a quick search for topics before creating new ones to further clutter the forums.

Well i can run The witcher 2 on everything ultra and almost everything on, so i gess i will not have a problem with Skyrim, but i am asking if its gona be ported cuz ported games from xbox to pc are never optimized i mean mass effect runs slower than mass effect 2 lol

I am new here and i hope you can understand that scrolling through 456 pages just to find a topic like mine is a long time, so instead of posting " oh hey is this thread again" you can post an answer...

Odd, mine's been running Oblivion fine since release. Only hiccups I had were from bugs gone from the first patch.

What optimization problems did you have? Not because I'm interested, just because I smell something phony here.

Well on a good pc i had random fps drops without a reason or like grass not apearing in time, some dumb stuff like that, and i know its cuz it was ported cuz its the same case as mass effect 1 and 2 the 2nd ME was runign superb cuz it was optimized while the 1st had a bit off lagg and [censored] fps.

What do you mean by "ported"? Less quality?

Nope; designed with console in mind then that build just gets thrown over to the pc with minor tweaks here and there. A PC port to console is something like BF3, the witcher 2 ect.

I hope for SLI support, tri monitor support, 2560x1600p support, and for it to use my 8 cores not just 2-4.

Hopefully they do some DX11 AA at least.
