Oblivion: 2006 Skyrim: 2011. the gap aint that huge. what I am saying is that the gap is minimal compared to morrowind-oblivion and im asking if people expext the gap to be greater for the next one or even smaller.
How much have the graphics changed from Gears of War to Gears of War 3?
on the other hand. yes it matters. anyone saying that graphics dont matter is either a lier or has no clue of what he is talking about. would you buy skyrim for 60$ if it looked just like morrowind? no.
Yes. I still like Morrowind's graphics. I liked how angular they were, and thegame had a good art style.
graphics are integral part of what you call the quality of the game. in 2011 you have standards to meet if you want to be called a quality game.
If graphics meant as much as you believe they do, then I wouldn't be able to enjoy older games such as Daggerfall, or Duke Nukem 3D. Thing is, I do. Plenty of games have been released with somewhat dated graphics, and were still received very well. Hell, look at Fallout 3. The graphics were the same as Oblivion's, except with more brown. The animations were horrendous. It still scored something like an average of 93/100 on the Xbox 360.
yes skyrim meets these standards in term of graphics but nothing more. traditionally, ES games were crushing these standards... even daggerfall wich was one of the very first 3D RPG
1. That's because the last two Elder Scrolls games have been released at the start of a new generation of consoles, where new technology was available. Not
at the end of a generation, where the consoles have already been pushed to the limit. There's only so much you can do with a 2011 multi-platform release. You're expecting two games from the same generations of consoles to have drastic differences, when the platform there being developed for remains the same. By the way, Daggerfall didn't crush anything. Daggerfall hardly looked better than Doom 2, which was released two years previously. Compare Daggerfall to Quake, and you'll see that Daggerfall hardly had cutting edge graphics.
