Skyrim Graphics on consoles

Post » Sat Jul 30, 2011 5:01 pm

Very admirable of you to be able to completely look past graphics. For me, poor graphics (something I'm not worrying about when it comes to Skyrim) can prevent me from getting as into the game as I would otherwise.

You're missing out on a lot of amazing games. Even if a game's graphics are pretty awful, I just keep playing for a few hours. Eventually you get used to them and the actual gameplay comes to the fore.

This is true. Consoles are focussed at people who like to play games and have limited funds (myself included here , I have only just got the money for a decent PC). Therefore they have to stick to a tight budget, therefore you won't see a card as powerful as the GTX 590 being used in either. At over $700 it would cost more than the entire console and that's just for a graphic card.

I like consoles and will likely buy the next xbox at some point

Lol, what a load of BS... "consoles are for people who have limited funds"?

I prefer to play on console because I prefer it on a 60' high def screen from the comfort of a sofa. I miss the MODS but that's the only real thing I miss.

What some people don't seem to realise is that the programming needed for the PS3 is a hell of a lot different than the 360. Even though on paper the PS3 should have better resolution and graphics, it doesn't mean it will. I was wondering if anybody had any insight on the graphics considering the ps3. I realize all demos have been shown on 360, and they look great, but I have noticed that multi platform games tend to favor the 360 in the graphics department. What I was wondering if Todd Howard was meaning to say that since he was using 360 both for simplicity in demonstrating the gameplay and representing the baseline of graphics, is the 360 on the lower end now considering graphics? Also, what console was Skyrim originally developed for before being ported to other systems? This has been bugging me because I am tired of having the lower end of the deal on everything for the ps3 in all games that are multi platform and this has been on my mind for a while. Does anyone think they can share any research that pertains to this subject?

I am starting to realize a lot of people on these forums are pc gamers. Which I respect, I used to be one until my 9800 gx2 broke. What you guys aren't understanding is that I don't favor any console, I just notice clear differences in graphics and playability. Look up on youtube, any game comparing 360 vs ps3 graphics, 360 tends to trumph the ps3 in looks. On top of that Oblivion contains a game ruining glitch exclusive to the ps3 and it has yet to been solved. I have also noticed, after comparing, fallout 3 tends to play much more smoothly and have significantly less glitches in the 360. Stop bringing up how PC gaming is so much better, it does not have any remote reason to be in this topic and too be honest many of you who bring it up sound quite boastful and pompous.

...uh....PC gaming is only better if you like PC gaming. However, PC graphics will always be better than console. That's just the way it is.

i havent seen one these fan-boy forum topics in a while so i may as well give some sense to the innocent noobs

to end the really devoted fan arguing playstation 3 is not a gaming console its like comparing a graqe to an orange ,ps3 is an entertainment system (technically a family pc) if you go against the warranty you can mod ps3 into supporting pc games just by putting another os on the hdd ,ps3 use's Nvidia hardware technology which many PCs rely on ,not all but allot use nvidia graphics cards

in case you miss interrupted what i typed i said ps3 is better than all the current gaming consoles BECAUSE it is an entertainment system, the only thing that makes multi platform games have any difference is the coders that convert the game data to each platform ,coders are the wonderful people that enable those extra graphical features for each platform

if the data is same as on pc then all other platforms would be identical ,if the game is optimize to each hardware used ,the 360 will be the lowest resolution no belief in an almighty deity could ever change that only the coders can do this

if any you wish to still be fan-boy after knowing this ,then you seriously have a neurological disorder

I can do that with all of that with my computer, except the game will look better, run faster and I can have mods all at once.

Me and my roomate tested which was better a couple years back, on his ps3, and my xbox. We checked on the same tv and it was identical.

They arnt identical. The PS3 had better draw distances and higher quality visuals.

Why do people give this point? Youve been able to use a TV as the display output for a computer for years. And yeah, low resolutions being upscaled is real high definition.

As for the topic. The PS3 has the potential to have better quality visuals however developers do not choose to take advantage of what the PS3 is capable of. Most games are developed on Xbox then ported over to the PS3 and thats where it stops.

I want graphics that Bethesda has intended for consoles, I don't like these console wars.
