Skyrim graphics PS3/PC

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 7:04 am

Im not sure if this is a stupid question so ill ask to find out.

Can PC graphics for Skyrim be better than graphics on the PS3?

I'm trying to make a character look like this: (photo made by username "Zenni" so give credit there) And I just cant seem to make it look this friekin' good! Is it my graphics? The character in this picture looks so clean/crisp. The fur is nice and white and looks very realistic.

Edit: put in wrong picture, check it again.

Alright... and are PC graphics better than both of those?

The problem with that "crisp" character is that she was photographed with a potato.

Also, PC graphics are only as good as the PC is capable of. If you have a rig that can run Crysis 2 smoothly, Skyrim should be beautiful (well, more so than it already is).

PC graphics, on high/ultra (there's not much difference between the two) is easily twice as good as console graphics.

lol, check the photo again, you might have seen the first one I put in by accident (which was the wrong one) unless the potato thing was just a joke...

And nope, got a PS3 and a 360. My question was really: does this character look this good because it's on a PC instead of a console?

No, no it's not twice as good at all. It is just more vibrant and the textures load faster, that's it. The aesthetics/visuals are the same, only the graphics in terms of rendering are a tiny bit faster due to better processors.

Try to use "showracemenu" command to make a character.

The lighting at the default place where you make your character is quite weird. When you go to other places you may find your character vastly different.

Lighting is an important factor whether someone is beautiful or not. Both in game and in real life.

I take it you haven't played on the PC?

Loading times are quicker, rendering distances are much, much farther. You can have AA (or FXAA) and AF which improve the look of the game ten fold, add texture packs and filter mods. You can also increase the rendering distance even further, improve the shadows and so much more.

Ah, that's much better :) Yes, I must've clicked on the other photo.

Anyways, you can still achieve pretty stellar graphics on consoles. Everything is beautiful. Characters are as beautiful as you want them to be...but, inevitably, some PC modders will make it so that all females look like hentai goddesses. And you won't be able to reach that level of smexy on a console.

On PC we use antialiasing, most people with gaming PC which are relatively new can run this game with 8x or more AA(also with double the framerate lol). So thats most likely why its crisper, also better hight quality texture filtering. That person also could have retextured the kajit, or dl'ed a kajit retexture.

So no, yours will never look like that.

Loading times are quicker = indeed, like i said
rendering distances are farther = indeed, like i said

The PS3 has Anti Aliasing also
Texture packs and filter mods leave places unpatched and thus make the game look like a childrens coloring book, ruining the theme of the game, by making it look like a black hole where a handful of landscapes and people from each generation have been svcked into.

When I turn the complexion to the other side of the bar, it looks like a spotlight is shining on my characters nose... hope that wont stay with me later into the game? Is it left-older and right-younger?

Anyone who says consoles look the same as PC has never played on the PC.

Here's the thing OP: Yes, PC looks way better than console considering not only can we set things on Ultra, but we can also mod the game to look even better than what consoles could ever hope to achieve.

Not to mention 60 fps capability and no blurriness/aliasing.

Basically, you get what you pay for, and consoles are hondas/toyotas, while PCs can go all the way to Lambos/Bughatti's and all the other super cars depending on your budget.

And resolution. I saw Skyrim on my PS3 and on my PC and please, it's a pain to play games on consoles at 720p.

Aside from mods, the biggest advantage PC gamers have on high end systems is they can up the resolution to figures that console gamers could ever dream to attain.

I've got it on 360 and pc, and played quite a bit on both, and basically, pc on ultra + ini tweaks + custom shaders is absolutely a million times more gorgeous, and more fluid than 360. There is no comparison, none atall
