So, after seeing that the announcement trailer was basically a GIANT tease, I got to thinking: each "generation" of gaming, an Elder Scrolls game has come out and completely blown the lid off of open world graphics. Even Morrowind still looks good today, that game has some great vistas that were miles ahead of similar games. Oblivion even more so - after a few texture and graphic mods, the game looks damn near recent - and it came out in 2006!
So, what do you guys think? Will TES 5 suffer from the lack of console hardware nowadays? PS3 and Xbox 360 only use DirectX 9 (or equivalent in PS3's case) and in PC land we're on version 11! Technically speaking, new consoles that take advantage of these graphic capabilities SHOULD be out now, and an Elder Scrolls game has always marked a jump in game "generations."
I for one seriously hope that Skyrim is made on PC, then ported "down" to console level - not the other way around like it's been happening for games like Call of Duty that are made for inferior systems and ported to PC. Modern Warfare 2 and Black ops are still running on direct x 9 for christ sakes!
Personally, I envisioned TES 5 as something like this --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9F6zSgtRnkE
Imagine PLAYING that!
What do you think? DirectX 11? Or will Skyrim be held back by console shortcomings and not give us te eye candy we've all been waiting for after we beat Oblivion? :brokencomputer:
