Graphics are mediocre I think. Lighting and poor texture depth is what Skyrim is worst at, as it barely looks like an improvement from FO3, if any improvement at all.
Witcher 2 and Crysis 2 (before the patch) looks absolutely awesome in DX9... so just because a game is DX9 doesn't mean it has to look bad. I'm sure utilizing DX11 features helps quite a bit on the way though to get stunning graphics.
Anyway, despite graphics being mediocre, I'm still really excited about the game. There are tons and tons of more things to be excited about than graphics for Skyrim. It's understandable that Skyrim can't look as good as other games, when Bethesda are cramping in 300 hours of gameplay, because it's all about priorities.
Artistically and aesthetically, I think the game looks really beautiful though. This is thanks to great level design and art design though.
