Skyrim Graphics Wishlist

I really don't care about the technical side of Skyrim's visuals, I would much rather they focus on good art design.

i dont get people who claim that it cant get much better looking than oblivion.....seriously. are you guys playing on 5 year old machines or do you only play older games or do you always set your graphics sliders way to the left. i honestly dont get it. go play far cry 2 and tell me that oblivion is even close to that.

as for all the special effects......id love to see them but im not holding my breathe on it. everytime they release a new game they claim theyve made it better and its optimized and a whole new beast..........and we end up with another iteration of that crappy gamebryo engine. i seriously hope they are utilizing the iD people now that they are under the same roof.

global shadows and lighting

a decent physics system

not concerned about textures at all since those can be modded in

better animations

realistic water

better weather effects..........i think probably the best example of this is a mod called atmosfear for the stalker game call of pripyat...........it is the best use of weather i have ever seen.

my main hope is that they do what reality pump did and have different engines for each platform. they are all the same basic engine just different iterations. this allowed them to add lots of eye candy and stuff to Two Worlds 2 without handicapping it nearly as much for those consoles that have more in common with an abacus than a modern day computer.

i really wish they had pushed this off till after the next gen consoles. we wont get to see another TES game till at least 2018. :(

Three things: Dwemer Ruins and Daedric Ruins. I mean my god. When I first got morrowind, and was walking to wherever it was i needed, and slowly those ominous, twisting purple stones and spires appeard..breathtaking. The dimmed halls of the shatterd dwemer outposts as the industry churned all around..beautiful. Id love to see those two types of dungeons return, keeping their style but expanded upon using the new graphics. I want to fall to my knees and cry with joy at their sight.

And finally..The Ministry of Truth. Obviously we cant have that, and overdoing it would make it too mundane...but something of that grandeur, of that mystery, in the new game will make me immensely happy.

The only other thing on my list, would be to return the map to being an overhead true-view of the world and its zones. the drawn ones were really neat, but (and this may just be me) I had a heck of a time figuring out scale and levels on them. And I honestly just think the mmorrowind maps were truly beautiful..Well, when the local map wasnt refusing to update.

a decent physics system

Well there is only one alternative to Havok imo. And that would be PhsyX.

tbh Havok is actually really quite good. It is the same physics engine as reactor in max. Check out the list of games that use the engine.

PhysX having unreal engine integration is the only thing that even puts it on the map. Well it is quite good though.

The only thing that I truly wish for graphics-wise is displace-able snow. Maybe the snow could reset after a certain number of in-game days or after a snow shower.

I want the graphics to be 2D and pixelated, with overzealous cell shading and all on a 3D tv.

Same here. Honestly I wouldn't mind if they re-used the same environmental assets with some optimization so we can have more clutter and better framerates. What I mean is, if http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=132&t=854105 were playable. I wouldn't say no to a new water shader though. Characters are pants though. I'd really rather see more time and effort put into making a decent, in-depth character creation system than get cutting-edge environments filled with awkward derpy characters.

As I've said before, I don't much care. Skyrim could look just like Morrowind or Daggerfall and it wouldn't bother me. Would I like cutting-edge graphics with this, that, and the other thing? Of course, but I wouldn't care if it didn't have them.

Hell, some of the most fun video games are the old text ones where there are no graphics other than text on the screen.

Considering that Crysis was a terrible shooter with the best graphics probably ever made after Metro 2033 and it has sold like 1 plus half million copies, I think Skyrim should look nearly the same. Maybe a little bit downed for consoles.

I want graphics that are OutStanding and the PC has to be in a complete league of its own a bit like crysis 2, full dx 11 support, etc.If more people demand for something like this you may be pleasantly suprised.

I want them to develope it with PC hardware in mind as well as consoles. I want it to look great on the 360, but please take advantage of the extra horsepower PC provides too.

As for specific features?

Improved weather Effects/Seasons.
Higher Res LOD system
Revamped Lighting System
Animation overhaul
Camera work, or some sort of animations during conversations to make them less of a staring contest.
Facial Model/NPC Model overhaul, more polys, better looking characters.
3D support for 3DTV's and Monitors
Kinect/cam/Eye Support for Head Tracking on PC/360/PS3

Among other things.

Did anyone else think the vanilla Morrowind water looked far better than the vanilla Oblivion water, or is that just me?

Water has to be photoreal (like the dx 11 nvidia water tessellation demo) simple as that i know there are some that want arty style graphics but maybe a mixture (somehow) of the two will do.

I don't think, I know. Morrowind's vanilla water was a lot sharper and better. Oblivion's water was just soupy.

I would mainly like to see an over all improvement (kinda obvious that someone would want that ) but what I hope to see is something similar to the crazy facial animation that they have in L.A. Noire.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQOhNidEyqo

Sadly I doubt any games being developed during/before the production of LA noire would be using Rockstar's awesome tech. Maybe next time though.

Not exactly graphics, but I hope the dungeons are on par with Morrowind's dungeons.

DEAR BETHESDA,

DITCH THE CRAPPY 512x512 pixel textures for pity's sake! They look horrible at 1080p
BRING some Global Illimunation and real time soft shadows.
DON'T use ragdoll Physics on bodies. We've made enough fun of dancing corpses in Oblivion. So please.. USE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HauN98naZ9U

Other than these, having DX11, Tesellation, DoF and HDAO (High Definition Ambient Occlusion) would be pretty sweet.

Euphoria isn't a physics engine though. It works with a physics engine, but without one it doesn't do anything. It just binds animations to already calculated physics. Kinda like moving ragdolls around.

Crysis was a great shooter I first played it with the graphics turned all the way down, and I loved it. Fallout 3 and New Vegas were terrible shooters, but they were great RPGs.

On the graphics side of things, Todd seemed pretty pumped when he said it would look like you were playing it on a nextgen console, but I have been dissapointed before.
