Skyrim Gravestones in Oblivion

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 5:18 pm

So I was reminiscing with some Oblivion this evening and while wandering outside of the Waterfront, I found some gravestones. These were simply unmarked gravestones with nothing significant at first glance. However, I noticed that the Skyrim symbol is plastered on three of the five gravestones. Would this maybe have a connection with the next game? I understand that it will be set (correct me if I'm wrong) 200 years after the Oblivion crisis, but I was hoping that maybe this small, almost unnoticeable tidbit from Oblivion would have some significance to the next game. I'm probably just looking into this too much, but I need something to hold me over until next November, haha. Anyways, please feel free to give me your thoughts (developers as well, especially if this bit is in some way relevant to the next game).

By Skyrim symbol you mean the diamond dragon thing, right?

That's the symbol of the empire. It can be found all over in Oblivion. I highly doubt it has anything to do with Skyrim.

This.

But good eye. There could be hints somewhere that we simply haven't noticed yet.

Doubtful. I think the Bethesda team was preoccupied by FO3 when they were putting finishing touches on Oblivion. If there were any "easter eggs for our next game" it would be references to FO3. However, the DLCS/Shivering Isles would probably be the place to look for any hints to Skyrim.

I meant the entire game. I've started a character to look for any hints (in dialogue, small details, lore). It's been great fun actually. Though honestly the lore may be the only source of hints. Who can say? I think it's worth a shot. It can sate the craving for details until January.

I wouldnt think anything of it, especially since the dragon is the symbol of the Empire.

I wouldn't even look to Shivering Isles.

Nope, they had a team working in Skyrim since Oblivion was released, Todd mentioned this in their latest podcast.

There's a hint that the invaders are Akaviri in the form of a mad raving loony in Anvil in Oblivion, much like there was a ranting loony in Morrowind that foretold of Oblivion's events.
