Fallout 3 had 31 marked quests and 20 unmarked quests, there is also unmarked repeatable quests which I don't really think count as being considered quests just like I don't think handing in firewood to a tavern should be considered a quest.

On average a single fallout 3 quest is far longer then a skyrim quest, which is where I have said, number of quests is not the same thing as content.

there is way more quests in skyrim than FO3 way more, and some of the quests in skyrim take easily just as long as in FO3, i played FO3 since it came out and by level 20 or so you could easily do all the quests, i'm at level 40 plus on skyrim and i've only done 1/3 of the main quest line and i have like 100 plus quests on my docket...FO3 was my favorite game of all time, its a great game, and the quests were good i think, but there weren't many quests, a lot of the main story quests were small, like "baby steps" or "leaving the vault" so those count as main story quests but were all pretty short so there is way more quests in skyrim, i hope the next fallout game has as many quests as skyrim.

This is the biggest disapointment for me, not the number of quests but the qulity of them. There are few truly memorable in Skyrim. Sure it's a good game and have enough improvments over Oblivion that I consider Skyrim the better game however I think Oblivion has more memorable quests, for example; A brush with death (I think its called) where you have to go into a painting to rescue the artist.
I think the MQ in Skyrim is better than Oblivions. I think that for the most part the Deadric quests in Skyrim are better than Oblivions. I was disapointed with the Dark Brotherhood quests in Skyrim just thought the DB quests in Oblivion were much better and more unique (the kill the other guests quests in that manor in Skingrad).
I prefer the storyline of the Companions in Skyrim to Oblivions Fighters Guild but there just isn't enough quests for the Companions. With the Thieves guild I would say they're about even for me. Mages/College quest; Skyrims 'mage' questline is just too short.
Sidequest wise I think Oblivions are generally better, more memorable anyway. The scores of misc. quests in Skyrim are just rubbish filler, I ignore them now.

"Just need to hire 30 people"

This made me laugh IRL. Do you know how much more this would cost given your own figures? If the average pay of these 30 employees is 40k a year, that's 3.6 million dollars just for these additional quests. This is not including additional expenses and costs beyond pay for these 30.

I felt that Skyrim didn't have as many quests as Oblivion or Morrowind.

I don't see how that's possible.

Off the top of my head, Whiterun, as an example, has....21 quests? 21 x 9 = 189, so unless Morthal is hiding a TON of them or something, I wanna know where they all are. :P

Maybe 25% of the quests are triggered in the wilderness (villages aside) and in the ruins themselves.

Also, the Morrowind and Oblivion counts include expansions and/or DLCs?

Sure, it has 410, but probably 50 of them are actually quality quests that last 15+ minutes.

There's a lot more space in Skyrim than just the capitol of each hold...

Also, people must remember that a LOT of quests in Morrowind were similar to the Radiant AI "Kill this, bring that" quests.

I don't know if people have noticed...

Skyrim only has certain type of quests...

1) Get this from here or that person (sometimes multiple items to complete quest)
2) Give this to that person (including messenger)
2) Talk to this person
3) Kill this person
4) Steal this from here or that person
5) Play tag or hide and seek
6) Read this, or learn this skill

That's it!

Replace Skyrim with TES.

But personally, I'd rather take a mix of fedex and more involving quests, rather than simply 10 long and involving quests. Something I realized after playing Oblivion a second time, is I was already tired of some of the quests with more detail and dialogue. Well, I guess the dialogue is mostly a question of the voice acting, it's not too bad reading the thing again, but sitting through all the acting again? It's like watching that enjoyable enough film a second time shortly after the first. And sometimes when the quest is more involving, it's more tiresome to go through all these numerous steps again than just convincing a guy to stop harassing a girl. I mean, one of the problems I had with Oblivion, is that the game felt like lacking quests. You play the game a third time, and you already got through most of the quests twice, and probably did them all at least once. So you know, you might miss on that Molag Bal quest this time, and other ones, but you'll feel like there isn't terribly much to do besides the main quest and the faction you decide to choose. Well, if you choose to join every faction (which doesn't really makes sense) you got a bit more going on.

In a way I think Skyrim got the balance much better than Oblivion, it just lacks the same number as Morrowind. Playing Morrowind, if you didn't feel like doing that quest you did last time, no problem, there's surely plenty of other quests you never did waiting, or those you did you feel like doing. I never did all of Morrowind's quests after several playthroughs. I might have done all of the miscellaneous and side quests, but it certainly took me more than two playthroughs. Otherwise I've never been through the Telvanni quests and might have missed a couple of the fighters, mages or thieves quests because I was skilled enough to get higher ranked and get quests from someone else.

Yes, but not only radiant AI quests are like that in Skyrim, but regular ones too.

Id rather have more thought out quests, frankly.

The main campaigns of the guilds are lacking a sense of entitlement and reward, which almost makes them pointless to complete.

Also another nagging problem, every dungeon has a chance of dealing with a quest, which makes exploration itself annoying, if the quests didnt break due to picking something up before you should have, it would be fine, but...hmm.

Skyrim has 410 quests total. Not including random quests created by the AI.

Not including random ones like "Kill the bandits for a bounty" or not including all misc objectives? Because I've done like maybe 25 quests in my 100 hours... The rest are like 300 misc objectives.

No, it is including those misc quests. Those endless collect, kill, or fetch quests. Even a good chunk of the named quests amount to fetch quests. Why they were even named I have no idea. If you look at the wiki the majority of named quests have a walkthrough that's three to four sentences. It's a joke.

I counted them one by one.

But daggerfall's quests are randomly generated.

What does everyone mean by "unfinished state?"
Do you mean there were quests in the game that had no end? As in, they were impossible to complete? Seems inprobable.
I played Morrowind for a LONG time and Oblivion almost as much. I think it is more about the content and what the quests ask you to do rather than a number of quests that matter. In short, quality over quantity.

Even a good chunk of the named quests amount to fetch quests.

You say fetch quest meaning ANY quest where someone asks you to aquire an item for them? Let me give you my perspective.

A fetch quest is where someone says: "Go get me 10 flowers from that field, 20 ft away, because I don't feel like doing it." Or: "Kill 10 of those spriggans, that are 30 feet away from me, because I dont feel like it." Those are fetch quests. Notorious to the MMORPG, they have literally ZERO story beyond who is giving them to you. No legitimate reason, no place to do it, no story.

What is NOT a fetch quest is one where a guy says, "Can you go find my families long lost sword, that was wielded by my father, Ulsov in the great battle of Carasvk. He was chased down into the caverns, where he was slowly overrun by Yeti's, then killed. The sword is a family heirloom, and I need it! I would get it myself, but I'm no warrior! I barely have time to run my stall each day. Please help me!"

You have a story. Several characters. A place it all occurs in, and that you must adventure through to get the item. And the actual item. Then a reward.

That sir, is not a 'fetch quest'. So far in my 110 hours of Skyrim, I have found 2 quests that somewhat qualify as fetch quests, and even they weren't so bad. (Gather 10 bear pelts, and 10 fire salts) They had a story, and didn't just require you to go to a place 50 feet away to grind enemies for 15 minutes to do. They took skill and time.

Well, by Whiny Gamer Logic, "The Lord of the Rings" would just be one long fedex quest.

I think Skyrim lacks EPIC quests. What is an EPIC quest? It is a quest that is not easy to find, requires many pieces that fit together to achieve a final goal, but the goal is done in stages (unlocked in sequence), and the final reward is permanent. Here is an example of an epic quest...

Visiting an underground old library, tucked in the shelves full of normal books is an ancient book (unique).
This book ingredients needed to craft an item.
Obtain ingredients, and craft item.
The item is the only thing that can kill monster.
Kill monster, and get bones.
Craft armor from bones.
This armor is the only thing that can pass a magical shield entering a secret area.
Area leads to an island.
On island is a dragon.
Win over dragon and you get a flying dragon you can hop on to visit island or other places (fast travel).
