Just created an account and voted for Portal 2. It was kind of short but the visceral experience it offered right out of the "Steam" box easily tops the steaming piece of sh*t that Skyrim is so far.

yeah if it doesnt win this one it will win one of the other thousands of GOTY awards. GOTY doesn't really mean anything the only game of the year worth anything is the one from the game developers conference all of the following games will win GOTY at some point from some group get a GOTY fro this year.

Indeed, but it already got a lot of great reviews, and some top notes. Its shame that with every new TES game, we get less and less of everything, and that people are actually happy because of that.. I assume this game was mainly made for the consoles, and the PC is just an addition.

Its shame what happens to gaming nowadays. Everything is just easier, theres no challenge, lots of things are becoming automative that player dont need to care about. Im quiet sad with that, but what can I do? It doesnt matter if Im right, or not.. what matter are numbers, money, not quality of the product but quantity. Everyone wants to be like Activision now, get millions of games sold, with bilions of profit.

I started with Morrowind and at the time it was realesed it was great! Then Oblivion wich included less things, now Skyrim wich has even more content cut off. Gaming is being destroyed in the name of us, players. I constantly keep hearing that what publishers do is for my good, but its only good for their pocket.

The reason why Skyrim is rated like that, and seen like it was a masterpiece is because there are no other game like that on the market. Its unique, cant be compared to anything.

Well, you also can't deny the fact that some "passionate" whiners are going to cry on more than one forum with multiple posts about the same thing, and some complaints on the forum are not really about bugs or glitches. Plus, it's almost impossible to account for other forums. Furthermore, even if I give you 50,000 unique people who ever complains on any forum (10 times of what I did before), it still results in a nice 99% satisfaction rate regarding bugs and glitches.

Also, I disagree with you on your opinion that the new patch makes things worse because despite the fact that it results in some other minor bugs, it makes the overall game better, especially for PS3 users. So unless you actually think the overall game runs better before the patch, you can't possibly think things are worse after the patch.

Ok, I may have went too far by referencing CoD that was more of a joke than anything meant to be substantial. That said Dark Souls is clearly the better game.

In your opinion. but to me. Gears will still have that story and gameplay that tugs at your heart strings and scares the crap outta you. i don't know if i want Skyrim or Gears to win...

at least they are reporting problems the GOTY threads are meaning less because the GOTY its self is meaningless every game i listed above will also have a GOTY edition and an award stamped on the box
we as gamers dont have a definitive distributor for GOTY so until that happens it really doesnt matter.

My friend used to play the original Gears just to hack people with a chainsaw and get some blood and gore.

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same GOTY. All games with a GOTY edition just have all the DLC included. MW3 won't have an official "Game of The Year" because it's all concentrated on multiplayer DLC, not single. Skyrim will have a "Game of The Year" edition with all future DLC included in the disk, or on multiple disks.

This GOTY battle is simply for the public to chose what game they like the most.

Yes, dragons being totally screwed up (seen them myself) is a minor bug. Total, they're only peripherally related to the game...

Look boy, I'm tired of fanatics, either the ones who claim Bethesda are Gods and everything they do is Golden, as the ones that enter the forums and say "this game suuuxxxxxx!". Fortunately, I'm neither. I really love the game, but when I have issues, and see the forums, other webs, YouTube, etc...and see that tons of people are having the same issues, or even worse ones, and when I read that Bethesda themselves have even appointed some statements to do on the very patch they've released, I'm not so blind to think they haven't done anything wrong.

For starters, how can you compare a ARPG to a pure third-person shooter? Gears 3 has a versus mode, Horde mode, Beast mode and 4-player campaign, to which alone Dark Souls has nothing to compare to as it is mostly about single-player with the occasion player partners or enemies (I had more 100 hours in Demon Souls).

I voted. I counted too and the problems that are being fixed in the game right now are what, maybe 50? I think there are about 500,000 actions that are working just right...maybe even more? Awesome game and it absolutely deserves GOTY.

Meh, the only two worthy games were Deus Ex : Revolution and Portal 2 (maybe Dark Soul, didn't played it), and both have been eliminated.

THE GAME HAS PROBLEMS.
Just because yours doesn't does not mean it is the perfect game. Yes ever game has bugs and a game of this size and scale, bugs should be expected but there are plenty and then some more people for whom the basics of the game are impossible.
A backwards flying dragon? That's not minor that's pretty god-damned major when the basic purpose of the game is to fight dragons and they don't work.
If the majority, and it certainly seems that way if people are suffering across all platforms, are having problems then the game is broken and needs repairing. You are just one of the lucky few who has no problems.

OT: I'm glad they've finally come out and admitted there are problems and these incentives for the PC make me want to go out and spend crazy money on a PC to play this game.

The ONLY games with a chance this year are Skyrim, Uncharted 3, and Zelda.
This is basically a given fact that one will win.

Which of those three will win is almost impossible to say.
Skyrim was plagued with MASSIVE bugs on PS3, and some on XBOX, so I doubt it'll win.

Remember most of Skyrims high reviews were from people who were playing for <3 hours.
They didn't see the HUGE issues it has.

Uncharted 3 has a big chance of winning too. It has an incredible story line and campaign, and is nearly bugless.

Skyward Sword...is...well, a Zelda game, so it has a chance.

Hey... where's Dead Island?

Why do you knock all the other contenders out? Plus, Uncharted isn't even part of the battle anymore.

i understand the concept what im saying is that for there to be a Game of the Year award you need a definitive decision, G4, Game informer, Gamespot, IGN, GDC, TGS, Kotaku, 1up, etc.. all have GOTY awards what im saying is that the award for game of the year really doesn't matter as has been said in the forum for the past year GOTY means nothing because so many games get at least one award it not definitive so of course Skyrim will get a GOTY but so will MW3 BF3 Uncharted Portal 2 etc... so saying skyrim has a good chance of getting GOTY is like saying gravity has a good chance of causing things to fall
