Skyrim has ruined gaming for me...

Hmm. Find a secondary hobby? Such as: Writing, Drawing, Music, etc.

... drinking and fighting. (doesn't always have to be at same time)
To things that will guarantee a good time.

Civilization will keep you busy for a while. I'd also recomend downloading graphic mods for Morrowind, it will increase the gaming pleasure.

Same thing happened to me as I was playing Fall out New Vegas where I began to thought how much more fun I could be have with TES Skyrim. Until then however I'm going to entertain by self with new games like Deus Ex human revolution along with Dragon Age 2 and wait for the release.

Why does it have to be an elder scrolls substitute? It just has to be something to tie you over. If what you wanted out of this thread is a substitute to elder scrolls, there isn't one, give up <_<

I'd rather stare at the wall than play COD.

Dragon Age 2 is coming out next month and The Witcher 2 is coming out in May. Both games will more than likely be great and aren't too far away from the kind of fantasy TES is.

Buy a dog, and nourish the creature. Take her for walks. This is how to pass time.

I have the same issue. I haven't even touched the other Elder Scrolls games in weeks now! I'm just waiting, biding my time, hoping Skyrim will be so amazing that I won't ever have to seek out other game alternatives (besides the eventual TES VI) again. :P

I bought FO NV, but i can't get into it. It probably has somehting to do with just deciding i'll save my money and time for skyrim.

Yep, I did the same. Bought FO NV in anticipation for Skyrim. I’m sure Skyrim will blow FO NV out of the water, but hopefully it will keep me entertained for the next 9 months. I can't see playing any other game at the moment.

Yes I know its a phase. Its just this one lasted nearly 3 months and can only end when Skyrim comes out or I get Mass Effect 2.

Ever since this game was announced i have become bored of gaming. I still play games but they no longer have that fun factor that they once had. After hearing of the annoucement the max time i was able to play a game was 12+ hours straight, now i can barely get to 2 hours. I spend my weekends watching TV or doing nothing usually i game for 24 hours straight and sleep all saturday, then sundays i go outside to buy energy drinks with my friends. Now i dont want to play anything. I just sit there and post on forums, i am trying to get into morrowind and mass effect but neither of those games can draw me in. I usually get like this for new game realeases that i really want but it usually dont happen until 2 weeks before release. I really want Skyrim, its the only way to end this state i'm in. Throw some games at me that are like elder scrolls maybe a game like that can end this. I would just go outside but theres like 50 feet of snow out there so gaming, tv, and internet is all i can do.

Good for you! Now try to get a life, meet some new people, exercise, maybe? It seems to me that you REALLY need some imagination, try reading a couple of books, etc.

There is nothing I hate more than "get a life." He has a life, it just svcks(during winter, apparently). Like I said before fighting and/or drinking.

If you cant fight, LEARN TO FIGHT. Winter is the best time for fighting. Nothing passes time quicker than beating someones face in, or getting your face beat in. Coma is always a option too.

Says who? Let people live the life they want and reserve judgment. There's nothing wrong with being a recluse. In fact, I initially felt like crap being the hermit I am by nature because people told me it was a waste for a "girl like me" to stay inside and not go out clubbing or with friends (   ) . It wasn't until I ignored their crap and embraced my highly introverted and introspective nature that I felt good about myself. So THAT'S the advice I give to the OP - ignore people telling you how to live your life, if you have fun staying in and enjoy playing games all day, then do it. There's nothing better about "real life" in fact I find "real life" svcks most of the time, so I avoid it. As someone who is conscious even when I'm sleeping (lucid dreams and astral projection) "reality" is whatever it is you are experiencing in the present moment, that's all.

And I don't seem to have the same problem as the OP, though. I've been playing Oblivion, Morrowind and Dragon Age and still having fun... though I don't like to think about how far away Skyrim is, because it DOES get depressing.

It's not about being an introvert or extravert, it's about seeing the sun for a little while. It's healthy for your body and your mind.

Yeah, tell it to me, i work 5 days of the week, 8 hours each day, and i even cant play too much games, and i have A LOT OF GAMES that i need to finish....yeah...life svcks ass!

Read Warhammer 40K books.
I recommend the Eisenhorn and Ravenor omnibuses. Great, great books.

My coworker is reading up and getting ready for a tournament.

Never heard of WH40k till he started talking about space marines and wolf aliens and stuff like that.

You don't even meet the age requirements to buy Skyrim. OR my idea of Canada is very far from the truth. OR you got another addiction besides gaming.

That does not even make sense.

Anyways Resistance 3 is coming out soon March I think.
Homefront is March 11th
Dragon Age 2 comes out in March as well.

Any toher game suggestions fro you might be helpful. Other wise watch teh gameplay trailer fro BioShock Infinte, it is amazing.

At above 40K is great, but insanely expensive, thats why I stopped. Tyranids FTW

Hell no, how is gaming ruined? Especially when you look at the year - Deus Ex, Witcher 2, Shogun 2, Crisis 2, Brotherhood on PC, Homefront, Dragon Age II and wilfully boycotting the POS that will be the 4th hideous regurgitation of the same game that was Call of Duty 4. And I gotta say the Witcher II is shaping up to be on par with Skyrim.

EDIT: Oh yeah and Battlefield 3 :D

EDIT: And Mass Effect 2...
