Skyrim has ruined gaming for me...

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:58 am

Hell no, how is gaming ruined? Especially when you look at the year - Deus Ex, Witcher 2, Shogun 2, Crisis 2, Brotherhood on PC, Homefront, Dragon Age II and wilfully boycotting the POS that will be the 4th hideous regurgitation of the same game that was Call of Duty 4. And I gotta say the Witcher II is shaping up to be on par with Skyrim.

EDIT: Oh yeah and Battlefield 3 :D

EDIT: And Mass Effect 2...

Most of those games can't compare to Skyrim.

Ever since this game was announced i have become bored of gaming. I still play games but they no longer have that fun factor that they once had. After hearing of the annoucement the max time i was able to play a game was 12+ hours straight, now i can barely get to 2 hours. I spend my weekends watching TV or doing nothing usually i game for 24 hours straight and sleep all saturday, then sundays i go outside to buy energy drinks with my friends. Now i dont want to play anything. I just sit there and post on forums, i am trying to get into morrowind and mass effect but neither of those games can draw me in. I usually get like this for new game realeases that i really want but it usually dont happen until 2 weeks before release. I really want Skyrim, its the only way to end this state i'm in. Throw some games at me that are like elder scrolls maybe a game like that can end this. I would just go outside but theres like 50 feet of snow out there so gaming, tv, and internet is all i can do.

Skryim may have ruined gaming for you but unfortunatly gaming has ruined your imagination. Seems like a common theme with the younger generation these days....can't entertain themselves without TV, the internet, their cell phone or a gaming console. I'm not going to tell you how to live your life but you should try and find other things to enjoy in life. I live in a snowy area and there are lots of things to do, you just have find some a few that you enjoy. For those judgemental people, Im sure alot of use play RPG type games to escape from reality every so often.

There are other things that interest me like airsoft guns, hunting, fishing, collecting insects, reptiles, and keeping pets. Its just that I hate cold weather and don't want to out in it.

I'd rather stare at the wall than play COD.

Well that sounds like a sound plan I guess then. If you don't like FPSs or any other type of game genre, then you don't have really much to go on other than trying to replay TES games, maybe download Arena and Daggerfall, they are great games.

Skyrim and this will be the only games I pre-order for the Autumn/Holiday season. The scratch different itches, as it were. With my luck, however, they will both come out the same *week*!

Okay everyone enough about personal life and other forms of entertainment. I want video games that are adequate TES substitutes, when winter ends I'll do all that life stuff. Right now all I can do is shovel snow and I hate doing that.

Mainly, you could play mass effect or FO NV if you haven't played them yet. Nice RPGs.

my god the sims 2 svcked ... so many hours out of my life :P

To the OP:
Try JRPG's, they have excellent story lines imo (the older ones anyway) and plenty of hours of grinding to be had.

or try the stalker series excellent series but very under rated

Its the only day we get a chance to go get them. Friday is my friend's game for 24 hours day and saturday there is a event in a mmo we play that we never miss. So sunday is our only chance, plus they are on sale every sunday for less money.

Says who? Let people live the life they want and reserve judgment. There's nothing wrong with being a recluse. In fact, I initially felt like crap being the hermit I am by nature because people told me it was a waste for a "girl like me" to stay inside and not go out clubbing or with friends (   ) . It wasn't until I ignored their crap and embraced my highly introverted and introspective nature that I felt good about myself. So THAT'S the advice I give to the OP - ignore people telling you how to live your life, if you have fun staying in and enjoy playing games all day, then do it. There's nothing better about "real life" in fact I find "real life" svcks most of the time, so I avoid it. As someone who is conscious even when I'm sleeping (lucid dreams and astral projection) "reality" is whatever it is you are experiencing in the present moment, that's all.

And I don't seem to have the same problem as the OP, though. I've been playing Oblivion, Morrowind and Dragon Age and still having fun... though I don't like to think about how far away Skyrim is, because it DOES get depressing.

I think what he is saying is to get out and breathe the fresh air while you are young and still move around because you'll always be able to play video games. At least this is how I look at it. Live outdoors with friends after school and then play vids later. Don't take this the wrong way like you probably will. And to the OP sleeping all day Saturday seems kinda like a waste of a weekend. These are just my two cents which you probably could care less about but should listen to.
