Skyrim has ruined gaming for me...

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 11:04 pm

Ever since this game was announced i have become bored of gaming. I still play games but they no longer have that fun factor that they once had. After hearing of the annoucement the max time i was able to play a game was 12+ hours straight, now i can barely get to 2 hours. I spend my weekends watching TV or doing nothing usually i game for 24 hours straight and sleep all saturday, then sundays i go outside to buy energy drinks with my friends. Now i dont want to play anything. I just sit there and post on forums, i am trying to get into morrowind and mass effect but neither of those games can draw me in. I usually get like this for new game realeases that i really want but it usually dont happen until 2 weeks before release. I really want Skyrim, its the only way to end this state i'm in. Throw some games at me that are like elder scrolls maybe a game like that can end this. I would just go outside but theres like 50 feet of snow out there so gaming, tv, and internet is all i can do.

I bought FO NV, but i can't get into it. It probably has somehting to do with just deciding i'll save my money and time for skyrim.

I'd say it's a good thing that you don't play games 12 hours straight anymore.

Jade Empire and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.
Not like TES, but they are RPG's, and fun ones at that.

12 hours is just a maximum number not saying i always do it. Anywhere between 2-12 is usually how long i play with breaks included. The longest i ever went was nearly 2 days which i did for a bet. Every second friday i go 24 hours with breaks.

You try experiencing real life with 50 feet of snow outside.

Really? Having a job ruined gaming for me.

If you're not against playing survival horror, I'd try Dead Space 2; it's what I'm playing now.

Me, I'm the opposite. I have to play as many games as possible to keep myself busy and not being excited and girly about Skyrim.

Not 50 feet; but I live in Alberta which can have snow until May. Make the best with what you have, otherwise you'll be miserable.

Me being 18, I enjoy going outside when there's 50 feet of snow on the ground. I love the snowy weather, I go out and sled or something. In fact, recently I found a pipe that busted by some train tracks and a GIANT mountain of ice formed where it was spraying, it's at least 17 feet tall. As I was exploring, I was thinking "this could be Skyrim! :D"

I cant get a job my mother says i have focus on school. I dont mind because i get to live for free. If i had a job i'd probably enjoy gaming more because i would miss it and when i get time to play it i would savor the moment. As for dead space 2, i would but i dont buy games i will beat in a week or less for full price.

I have a life.
Its called elder scrolls.

Besides, I tried that real life thing, but the big flaming ball in the sky scares me. I think it wants offerings.

If I were you Id try to get into Daggerfall and Morrowind. They are great games and youll be immersed in elder scrolls lore and surroundings. Wich is nifty.

Dragon Age and Dragon Age 2 is what's going to pass my "gaming time" until November. I'd suggest those!

@Merari
I believe I said above Morrowind could not draw me in. Daggerfall is to hard to run.

@mrbosch
I have Dragon Age and I'm bored of it.

Says who? Let people live the life they want and reserve judgment. There's nothing wrong with being a recluse. In fact, I initially felt like crap being the hermit I am by nature because people told me it was a waste for a "girl like me" to stay inside and not go out clubbing or with friends ( :sick: :sick: :sick: ) . It wasn't until I ignored their crap and embraced my highly introverted and introspective nature that I felt good about myself. So THAT'S the advice I give to the OP - ignore people telling you how to live your life, if you have fun staying in and enjoy playing games all day, then do it. There's nothing better about "real life" in fact I find "real life" svcks most of the time, so I avoid it. As someone who is conscious even when I'm sleeping (lucid dreams and astral projection) "reality" is whatever it is you are experiencing in the present moment, that's all.

And I don't seem to have the same problem as the OP, though. I've been playing Oblivion, Morrowind and Dragon Age and still having fun... though I don't like to think about how far away Skyrim is, because it DOES get depressing.

I feel you bro, same problem here... That's why I have Morrowind to entertain me :) never played it before :)
But if MW isn't to your liking.. Do you have a PS3? Buy demon's souls :)

Same stuff. I was exited as hell when Mass effect 3, diablo 3 and Deus Ex 3 were announced... now I only have Skyrim in my head when thinking about games...

Skyrim info has the opposite effect on me, I'm playing now more than ever. Morrowind vanilla, WoW, Half Life 2, Anno 1701 all at once. I'd recommend you the Gothic series (1,2,3 not 4) which is the only game series that can match Tes to some extent.
