Skyrim: High Resolution Texture Pack (Free DLC)

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 8:43 pm

You can check by rightclicking Skyrim in the Library, choose 'view downloadable content' and see if the High Res Pack is already in there.
If that's the case then you just have to wait until it's finished (which might take quite a while, btw).

Think about it -- creation kit, FREE 3GB DLC and Skyrim on sale. Normal DLC would not hit the servers nearly as hard as this for a number of reasons... I think you can figure them out.

Doesn't matter. I should still be able to play my single player game while its downloading or back off updating if servers are crushed. I guess this puts the lie to those supposedly low PC sales though.

In that case I might download them, a week from now, when it will only take 24 hours to download.

Yea before/after comparision or something for a few textures would be nice if some1 is able to. Would like to see how it compares to the already existing HD texture packs out there.

This is what I want to know. Does it high res EVERYTHING in Skyrim, or what? I have multiple mods to high res landscape, clothing, wooden structures, etc., etc. If this replaces everything I can delete like 10 mods...

You can play the game while it is downloading, you just need to get Skyrim Script Extender, and launch it via the skse_loader.exe.

That's.... odd?
That is what it looked like for me before it started downloading too. It is normal.

It's the way things are now days, just like you have to sign up to play a game. The fact that so many games are on Steam shows that devs support it and it's generally a good delivery service for digital games.

That is until gog receives more games in their library...They have the Thief series for Talos sakes!

So I want to download this, but the Steam store page seems to think I already have it installed. I don't. Is this happening to anyone else?

http://tnypic.net/24a13.png

Also, are there any mirrors for this yet? It's free DLC, so I don't see why we should need to download it through Steam...

To start the installation you need to start the Skyrim Launcher from within steam.

Did some of you buy a license to complain when you hit the 'free' download button. I swear there are a handfull of you who will complain about absolutley anything just as long as you can get a free jab at someone like Steam or otherwise. The Skyrim community is getting 2 free items today that are a great additions to a fantastci game and I see various complaints about speed? Just rediculous.

Well, if that's the way its gonna be no more DLC for me. This is just too frustrating. I only marginally care about the high rez textures and its already more than its worth to me to lose an afternoon or maybe day when I actually could get to play.

I know what, just drive up to Bethesda and ask them to pop it over on your thumb drive! That might be faster for ya!
