Unfortunatly, us males can't multi task so efficiently. :P

Request: screenshots of the improvement of those awful low-res ground and graveyard textures in Windhelm....

It's a mixed set, some for sure better, like the furniture, but the gray mountain texture still looks low to me. Overall, I'm happy but will probably still try to find higher res of a few of the glaring ones. I don't want a new style so I avoided a lot of the user texture packs, I want the vanilla style and feel just higher res, which the official pack mostly does for me.

Did some of you buy a license to complain when you hit the 'free' download button. I swear there are a handfull of you who will complain about absolutley anything just as long as you can get a free jab at someone like Steam or otherwise. The Skyrim community is getting 2 free items today that are a great additions to a fantastci game and I see various complaints about speed? Just rediculous.

Man, agreed. just shows that people love to complain.

I know what, just drive up to Bethesda and ask them to pop it over on your thumb drive! That might be faster for ya!

All I was trying to say is the abillity to decide to wait if the servers were crushed would be nice. I admit I got a little excessively frustrated though. I'm still pretty paranoid about the whole Steam thing. sorry if I rained on anyone's parade.

Thanks man. Difference isn't quite big, but it's free and it's an improvement. So why not?

Anyway to download this by not using Steam.

I was just going to ask the same thing, but I see someone replied with a 'no'.

Bummer. I was hoping for a way to get the DLC without starting Steam.

Well, maybe others will recreate texture files that we can download from other locations.

I have to applaud, a DLC that is not only free but is also NOT a shameless leftover which should've been included in the original game. Didn't think Bethesda had it in them. +1 Respect from me..

So what's the problem with downloading the DLC through Steam? You need Steam for Skyrim, so why dont you just leave it on for an hour extra to download the DLC?
I'm quite baffled, it's like ordering a burger at the McDonalds and asking if they know any other places where they sell McDonalds-cola.

Well, from the Shield screenshots it's obvious these are the original textures the artists created and intended, and what we got on 11-11-11 were the mutilated consolified versions.

Earlier a couple of peeps said the HQ pack was 3.1GB

But my downloader says it's 8,864.5 MB ie 8.7GB!

Coming in at a steady 125KB/s, on a line that will go to 2MB/s. Hey, I'm kewl with that, we all need to share the available BW. It'll be there for me in the morning I guess.

Yeah. You're downloading the whole game...that's terrible.

Just like any 79x0 graphics card owner will have to stick with Vista or 7. Current drivers don't support XP.

I'm quite baffled, it's like ordering a burger at the McDonalds and asking if they know any other places where they sell McDonalds-cola.

Because, I don't run Steam, that's why. I don't need Steam to play Skyrim, so I don't want to start Steam or it will patch my game.

That is whey I was hoping for an altermative to downloading a texture pack dlc, instead of starting Steam.

It's not like McDonald's hamburgers. :-)

It's more like that I bought a game from gamesas, and I wanted to know if there was anyplace to download texture packs for their game, besides the Steam application.

Does that answer your question?

Yes you do, unless you're running a pirated version.

64bit OS because of the greater load on memory. Vista and 7 are much better at memory management anyway.
