Skyrim: High Resolution Texture Pack (Free DLC)

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 4:18 am

Anyway to download this by not using Steam. The reason I ask is I have a terrible internet connection at home (Steam is on my home computer) but have a super fast connection at work (Steam not allowed on work computers). Work doesn't have any issues with me downloading something and putting it on a thumb drive though.
Install Steam at work, or some other computyer, then you can backup to a USB drive, and restore at your home computer
(Although I guess you'll need to backup the whole Skyrim folder)

Big surprise - Steam's servers can't handle the pressure so not only is the DL paused, but since the game is updating I can't play the game either. I love Steam...

The last question... if our computers don't like melting, how do we remove the high-res textures? I have a beastly video card and 4 gigs of ram, but I'm scared my computer will cry at me.

they will surely produce a big big big big FPS hit.

If you meet the specs I doubt you'll see any framerate hit at all. PCs can do textures easily and they're mainly low res for console issues.

I think it will work like mods, you could just deactivate it.

Amazing news, but Steam is painfully slow right now.

What does one need to do to download it?? It says that I am registered to get it and that I shall start the game, but there was no download nor has anything else changed.

Hot, moist air. Also known as steam.

@ Stigwa: You must restart Steam for the CK to appear in the tools list.

People are saying it comes packaged in a .bsa and with an accompanying .esp to active or deactivate the texture pack whenever you want. Very good idea in my opinion...

I must of gotten really lucky. I downloaded it with no issues in 19 or so minuites.

Looks a lot better no question about it. I haven't noticed a huge hit to FPS yet, I am about to start the game up again with Fraps running to see what I'm getting now.

It's steam, you'll most likely have to reinstall, that is IF you already have a pre-H-Rez tex backup!

They use esp's, so you can just disable them in the launcher.

When i opened NMM i saw an extra two ESP files so presumably just disabling them will remove the high res texures (they wern't there before i started the D/L of the high res textures

I guess you could just make a back up of your current texture folder, and simply replace it if the new textures are to much.,

That if it is not a .esp or anything that you can just deactivate.

No, please stop telling people high resolution textures will hit performance badly. As long as you have the VRAM on your card, there shouldn't be no FPS hit, if you don't have the VRAM then the game will stutter depending how far you go over your VRAM limit.
