Skyrim Hoarders unite :)

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 3:48 pm

I think its from fear of breaking a quest but I basically don't sell anything now other than stuff I craft myself, or obvious junk (i.e. loot drops from basic enemies)

if anything looks remotely "questie" I just store it in my house... (I have Loki's bow, which I found in the troll cave east of Whiterun, I've had it since very early in the game.... its stored in the house..... never used it, but too scared to sell in case its needed later on)

I guess the game has made me somewhat of a hoarder.

you never know when selling an item could break a quest at the moment, so I'm always err'ing on the side of caution

Unfortunately it makes for a very untidy homestead ;)

Now where DID I put that Ebony War-axe ??

Anyone else the same ?

I feel this way about all unique items.

My Bug Jars and sigil stone especially.

Boggle1212, you know there's a use for that sigil stone other than what it was given to you for...check in The Midden dungeon beneath the College...

But yeah, I tend to hoard things. Not on purpose at all, but just by picking up stuff and forgetting I have it...mostly misc. stuff like alchemy ingredients and ores and ingots. Then I think, how the heck do I have 300 pounds of stuff!?!? Oh yeah...

I take all (or nearly all) food and ingredients (the Riften fishery is heaven!) and use them for cooking and alchemy. I take all monster drops but only NPC money, potions, jewelry, lockpcks, notes, and special gear. I don't hoard any specific thing per se, nor do I fill my house knee-deep with baskets, buckets, and brooms like someone did, but I most certainly take all cheese. I cheesebombed myself until I got more furniture. Then I found cheese stuck in bookcases.

I've got tons of potions, and a number of other useless things like some artifacts, trophies from special characters, etc. On my main character, I've got an "important crafting materials and ultimate potions" chest, "equipment I use sometimes" chest, and an "everything else" chest.

I horde... and being able to command your follower to pick stuff up makes it even easier to horde.... being they have a unlimited weight limit... i wish there was a house that had enough mannequins in it to apply one set of each unique armor to them. but the most you get is 3... sadly... We need a house that has a large trophy room, 2 floors.... lower level mannequins, weapon racks, and display cases, upper floor a balcony style, with lots of bookshelves and small tables with chairs...

Not me. I sell everything unless I disenchant it.

Well ok, not everything.

I'm currently hoarding all this Dwmear (sp?) metal so that when I start leveling that side of smithing, I'll have a good supply.

I also keep all kinds of stuff for Alchemy and my light armor smithing.

I'm collecting books. Each title. Currently, I have all the shelves in my Markarth and Whiterun homes filled. I need to get a new home soon. (Until I'd bought the Markarth house, I'd been keeping them in a barrel in Whiterun. I'll have to start doing that again until I acquire a new abode.)

Also, dragon claws. Yes, even the golden one from the start of the game. I'm just sad that I don't have anywhere to display them :shakehead:

Speaking of ... I saw two people corresponding about how they were arranging things around their houses. How do I do this? If I put an item in my inventory, and then drop it from there, it just lands somewhere randomly.

Edit: Kiralyn reminded me. I've got my Sanguine Rose, a few magical staves and the Lich masks on display or stored in both of my houses.

I also have a trunk full of stolen stuff that I'll sell when I finally have that Speechcraft perk.

Upgraded the Whiterun house, and have chests and end tables selected for all sorts of purposes.... weapons (both unique ones and "this might come in handy!" ones), armor & clothes (more circlets than you can shake a stick at. And I could outfit a town with religious necklaces), potions ("I might need more of these someday!"), filled soulgems (I'm always surprised just how many I've got), Alchemy ingredients (approaching 800 lbs), semi-infinite crafting ingredients, cooking ingredients..... oh, and the chest of random Dwemer junk, which I'd been thinking about decorating with.

And then there's the butterfly jar and statue of Dibella, sitting on a table.

I have not found either of my followers to have no weight limit.

I luv to collect various items even one that have no use whatsoever but...i had really hoped that with/in this "new" patch they would have fixed the option to manually decorate your home(s)!

If i place something outside 'o a chest it is not there anymore each time i return home, but lies on the ground somewhere never had that in vanilla Oblivion! *Sigh*

I collect books that are good reads, rare weird items like the bugs in the jars, and I keep the blades that I use throughout my career.

Everything else gets sold. I know I owned it, that is enough.

As a consequence I don't really have a house, and never did all the "marriage" stuff - not my bag. But what is nice is that you can stay out in the wild exploring indefinitely since you won't encumber yourself. This actually works well with the radiant quests since you can save up quests and then knock out 5-6 in each town you go to.

I always keep everything. I don't really sell anything unless I have an extra or am in need of gold. I have loads of armor, weapons, books, staffs, you name it. i love collecting. I wish I knew how to post photos because I have my Oblivion house in Skingrad all decked out with helmets on desks, swords on shelves, staffs standing in corners, etc. It really looks great. I'm still working in Skyrim to get a nice enough house to take the time actually decorating it.

On XBOX, pick up the object by holding down the A button (same way you put baskets and buckets on NPC's heads) and then with some practice you can manoeuvre the item to the position and place you want it....

I assume on the PC you hold down the E key, and PS is the X button

Very very carefully..lol With the ragdoll physics it is difficult to place things with any real precision.

basically i collect all food and all potions that i don't need (which basically comprises of everything except health potions) and since i don't do alchemy i collect all ingredients as well :celebration:
However the lack of an alphabetical order in chests and such make my weapons and armor chest extremely cluttered -.- i can't find anything.

i dont see a need to hoard unique items except daedric artifact, dragonpriest masks or the uniques have very good stats,
you usually cant drop quest items and items generated from radiant AI quest only spawn in containers if you already got the quest

You may want to be careful. As far as I know, they still have not fixed the soul gem error where filled gems lose their souls if you put them in containers or drop them.

Thank you did not know that one, anyone having problems manually decorating their home?!

I'd always liked it in Oblivion to have bowls full 'o gems and such but it does not seem to work in this game! :(

I am working on a complete library.

I also collect magical staves, gems and gold ingots.

I am an alchemist thus, I have a lot of ingredients, but they are gathered specifically for use so I don't considered that hoarding.

In FO3 I collect 8 balls, gum, gumdrops, Nuka cola trucks and pre-war money (stacked in bundles of 50 in wooden crates).

I haven't found any really unique and non-functional items in Skyrim yet. Hopefully something will catch my eye.
