Skyrim - "Hottest game of 2011"

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:42 am

Gamereactor - the biggest Nordic gaming magazine - visited Bethesda Softworks earlier a few months ago. Their cover story is to be revealed 10th February I think - including lots of info and pictures of the game.

In any case, I just noticed how they have published an article, where the editing staff have reached an unanimous list of the "hottest" games to come during 2011.

Guess what's number 1? Skyrim, of course! :foodndrink:

Here's the Swedish version of it: http://www.gamereactor.se/artiklar/25739/Hetast+2011+(del+4)/
Here's an English translation by of it by google: http://translate.google.se/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=sv&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=sv&tl=en&u=http://www.gamereactor.se/artiklar/25739/Hetast%2B2011%2B(del%2B4)/

I thought this is pretty interesting, seeing as Gamereactor has actually seen (and I think playing) the game a whole lot more than any here on the forums, not including all the juicy information they have received.

Yup, me too.
Witcher 2 seems great too though.
I never played Witcher 1, but I've heard lots of good stuff about it.

I would have thought Mass Effect 3 would have received a better ranking. Glad they thought of Skyrim as nr 1 :D

The release date of the new issue was supposed to be today, but after visiting Gamestop I heard it was delayed until February 10 :(

It's the only game I've anticipated this much and will be the first one I've ever pre-ordered. :D

every little action that your character does can affect the game world, is more than enough for us now to begin filing on our askedsbrev to close and run

Well, I have to say that they are woefully incorrect. Skyrim will NOT be the hottest game of 2011. To say so is sheer ignorance.
...

.....

It shall be the COLDEST game of 2011. :P

(Sorry. I couldn't help myself.)

It's supposed to say "avskedsbrev" (kind of means "farewell letter")
And it means in that context, that Radiant Story is more than enough for them to start writing farewell letters to their loved ones, just to disappear for all eternity in the magnificant world that is The Elder Scrolls :)

I'm not sure if W2 is keeping the same control scheme and interface as 1 but i'd look into 1 before buying 2. The Witcher is a real niche game and does not appeal to most. If you like fixed 3/4 overhead linear timed point and click controls then it's right up your ally. Me personally I played it for 1 hour and in that time I made more mouse clicks than a typical 10hr grind session in Photoshop. The greatest story in the world is useless with such a horrible control schema.

Skyrim "Hottest Game of 2011" now that is an understatement. I think it's the most anticipated game in years.

Control scheme in the W2 is completely revamped.

My guess it DA2 will take RPG of the year from most sources including the two most important ones. Skyrim has a shot at overall GOTY though and if The Developer's Choice and/or IGN say it is so then few can dispute.

I will get four (4) new games in 2011.

The one that has most of my interest, of course, is Skyrim. And, I can't think of a better setting.

It looks like I will have time to dabble around a bit in the other three new games a bit before 11-11-11.

On that date, however, a new world is opening, and I will become immersed within it.
