Well no one has said that he is a 200 year old blade. The blades have just been hunted down to near extinction and he is just an old blade that has information passed down through the centuries. He is also a redguard btw.

So the blades kept recruiting even after the Empire fell apart?
Best thread yet! Thank you! I hate the fact that I have to search for every time I log on. So if we assume town/cities will be open air, there's a chance for us to get levitation back!
Esbern is a Redguard? Um, where did you pull that out of?
It was a jest out of a previous discussion of how Esbern the redguard from Oblivion was foreshadowing for Skyrim (obvious conspiracy theory) and is in no way reflected in the compilation as fact, it was just a response to a question that can't possibly be answered at this point.
In one of the videos discussing dialog recording, the guy implies that one piece of dialog could be a response to any number of conditions and they need to be recorded with that in mind. This suggests that the dialog will be much more dynamic than what we saw in Oblivion and even Morrowind, possibly relating to the "radiant story" discussed in the GI article.
It would be cool if you could drop a sword on the ground, a little boy tries to return it to you. Then something profound happens (not sure) and you end up telling him he can keep the sword if he becomes your apprentice or something. that would be interesting. I don't know, maybe not.
Between Reman dynasty ending and Tiber Septim crowning, the Blade "order" divided itself into knight-errants, although at the time most of them lived for quite a long time having Tsaesci blood. It's quite probably the "order" survive simply because an older Blade select and train a replacement now.

Hmm who knows. I'm sure when the kid tries to return it to you it will bring up dialogue and you can choose to tell them that they can keep it and they skip off happy with their new sword.
first- where is this whole open city thing coming from? This is all speculation correct? It's just that several people are talking about it like it's fact and i've seen nothing as of yet that states that as true.
second- I thing you should add the possibility of shields being hung on your back when not in use. In the article it describes a warrior taking the shield off his back and then blocking an attack. Also in one of the concept arts it shows a guy with a sword in one hand, a staff in the other, and a shield on his back.

Well I said "Possibly Open Cities" instead of saying there was open cities but seeing as how there are dragon attacks on towns and we have a new engine without the extremely restricting gamebryo engine, I think it is very likely that cities are open. Also I added the shield on the back info but I originally didn't put it on because I didn't think it was important enough to add but there seems to be other people that think it is so I'll add it. Thanks for you input :icecream:
I have updated the thread with links to the hub where they need to be and also have re-entered my statement of how snow accumulates now that it is confirmed that my assumption was correct.
Or he was born into them, like a Spartan would. A descendant of Cyrus from Cloud Ruler?
It's Jauffre's lineage, he had a secret child he was raising to teach them how to become a powerful blade knowing that in 200 years one of his descendants would be saving the world from a massive dragon. Yep, totally believable

Adding it to speculation now. Thanks for the information.
From Monday’s update it’s sounded like there will be some kind of assassin’s guild or at less radiant assassination quest.
Hope we can get a compilation of comfirmed Guilds/Factions soon.
Thanks again for doing this thread!
Well most likely they will have an Assassin's guild since they've had one in every game since Daggerfall. Hopefully we learn a bit more about how factions will work in Skyrim also.
If you haven't seen it already i did a nice http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1159725-monday-gi-hub-update-discussion-thread-4/, even the stuff that got removed. Might want to add it...
