Skyrim Information Compilation

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:18 am

I missed out on the updates this week until now and when i looked for the threads on the Hub Update I coudn't find any. To be honest I didn't want to read through it all anyways just wondering if there has been any discussion as to what http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/1429/argoniano.jpg is?

A new humanoid enemy or creature or just a new look for Argonians, as we know the looks of each race are improved.

Most threads believe that it is an Argonian.

Pretty sure they merged Skyrim with LoZ because that is clearly a http://images.wikia.com/zelda/images/a/a3/Lizalfos_Artwork_(Ocarina_of_Time).png lol.

- Todd Howard affirmed that the idea of creating DLC's for Skyrim is "tempting".

Hopefully expansions are more 'tempting.' ;)

Do you know anything about jobs, each town having a unique economy, and weapon smithing? I know it's in the game, but don't know any details.

Its amazing that we know so much yet people still complain..

Hopefully tomorrows update will give us even more.

I agree. Personally I think anybody who is complaining doesn't deserve to play the game upon release. Skyrim looks awesome so far and it seems they have made everything better.

Thanks. That's what I thought too but they do look different. of course it's just concept art but I like it.

I take my research on games seriously and sometimes too far but I'm not disappointed at all in the amount of info released already, seriously how can people be disappointed? For the short time since announcement we actually know a lot. Well if you've read everything and followed all the major threads that is. I feel like I already know how the story is going to start and finish but I can't wait to play it still.

There's a lot of change and added features that we barely scratched the surface on.

This info is FULL of speculations. Shields worn on back, and other stuff that are simply RUMORS and wish lists from this forum, and can in no way be derived by any interview. If you are going to make a thread like this, then be f''ing responsible.

All of this has probably been touched on already in the thread. I just read the first page. If you see anything that hasn't been added yet, please add it. If nothing, tell me and I'll delete this post lol.

?Rather than a complex UI, we just have four cardinal directions that seamlessly flow into equally seamless sub-categories where everything is easy to navigate and esthetically sleek (a subjective term, but that is their stated goal.)

?Rather than initiating conversations with non-quest NPCs intentionally, it's more like they naturally choose on their own to comment on things going on in their lives, about you, about the world, etc. And NPCs that have more to say (i.e. quest-givers or other essential NPCs) have dialogue trees for added detail where it's needed.

?NPCs will give precise directions, and will even accompany us to the correct roads and tell us the correct direction to travel in in order to locate quest locations. (Since we can play with no HUD if we want to this time, this means we have a viable alternative to quest markers.)

?Each Nord clan in Skyrim has its own micro-culture, colors, and esthetics.

?There is a Dunmer village in Skyrim.

?No spell creation.

?There are jobs and/or crafting abilities (I say and/or because we don't yet know whether one can be considered a job or a crafting ability, whether it's a skill, or what) now, apparently including woodcutting and weaponsmithing.

?There are more people working on dungeons this time around, and there are fewer total dungeons in number (roughly 90 fewer than Oblivion,) evidently in an effort to make them more unique and varied.

?The economy of villages and towns can be impacted by us damaging things like their mills. This will affect prices. Every town has an economy.

?Even small villages contain 10+ buildings.

?Race designs are more distinct and varied, and character creation is more customizable than in the past.

?Weapons have separate block and attack stats.

?There are little environmental touches like birds, and fish that leap out of the water.

?Dungeons now feature puzzles. The 3D rotation/examination of inventory items will play into solving some puzzles.

Why the hell are they removing spell creation and mysticism? Bad move, Bethesda. VERY BAD MOVE!

And 18 skills now? How the hell much do they have to keep dumbing things down? Go back to the skill system from Morrowind!

We're not stupid. We can learn more complex skill sets if they'll just let us!

Mysticism was removed because it makes no sense when all the spells belong to other magic schools. All the spells in Mysticism have been moved to the other schools. They haven't decided if spell creation will be removed yet but it doesn't really matter seeing as how the new magic system allows for a myriad of different spell combinations and effects, which is actually more customization than spell creation ever had.

Less skills doesn't mean less complexity. Skills get cut out because they fit somewhere else in the game and are useless as skills. It doesn't cut away your character creation. Also, with the new leveling system, for all we know, 18 skills could be equivalent to 50 skills in MW/OB for all we know. I'm tired of people saying the game is getting "dumbed down". Pleased learn the meaning of the word "dumb", because frankly, Oblivion was a smarter game than Morrowind because it actually had more elements of player skill, in which you actually had to think about what you were doing and actually had to do things other than pressing a button and the game plays the game for you. So in fact, Morrowind was basically pre-dumbed down of Oblivion if you want to go that route. Skyrim is even more complicated than previous games also as it has been confirmed that we will have puzzles in some dungeons also, much like Oblivion had a puzzle in a couple of dungeons such as the mage's guild quest Ayleid pillar and one random Ayleid ruin where you had to go through a maze to find the right buttons to press to open the double gates.

I will be updating the main post here soon, I have alot to compile.

I'm still looking for the high res of http://www.gameplayer.it/novita/immagini/prime_info_e_immagini_per_the_elder_scrolls_skyrim_1.jpg. I saw it once and now I can't find it. I'm also looking for the high res of the giant.

Something caught my eye in the creature's section.
You said/typed (Such as one Dwemer sphere will have a crossbow attached to it's arm while another will have a sword.)
First: will they have crossbows attached? you seen this?
Second: If so i wonder if that means crossbows for the PC will be in the game.
I'd all but written off crossbows in skyrim, but that peaked my interest.
Though,it could mean nothing at all, just thought i'd mention it,see what others think :)
