Skyrim PC ini and console tweaks

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 9:28 pm

Anyone else seeing the camera clip with the arms in first person using slightly higher than default FOV values?
I've tried to set it back to default values, but even at a value of 60, performing certain attacks makes the camera clip with my arms.

Yes I just noticed this. So ridiculous.

bDoDepthOfField=1

What's this do? And what can I set it to?

Should enable and disable Depth of Field (background blur). The only other options would be 0.

Anyone know of a way to get the background keyboard working again.

bBackground Keyboard=1

That command is found in Oblivion, Fallout NV, and Fallout 3 (although initially disabled for it).

I've tried it in both .ini files and differing iterations, but nothing gets it working again.

For those that don't know what it does, it allows the use of media keys and the volume controls you find on some keyboards. I have a G15 and I like to use it's volume control to adjust sound levels during the game, but I can't without that command.

Also something seems to be wrong with the always run command.

bAlwaysRunByDefault=1

I have it set to 0 and it works until you load the map and then resume gameplay, you're back to always running without a button press.

in order to remove the flickering shadows from sun which jumps the sky insteed of smoothly slide on it :D enter command set timescale to 1 ...it will set in-game timescale to realtime 1:1 ;) but note this, thz are only temporarily solution!

Has anyone discovered the skyrim equivalent of the "uGridsToLoad" ini settings or maybe some other settings that have the same effect

i want to increase the distance items come into view

try these ---

fBlockLoadDistanceLow=500000.0000
fBlockLoadDistance=250000.0000
fHighBlockLoadDistanceLow=75000.0000

If you want to toggle always running off hit the caps key. Then to run hold shift while pressing forward. Or you can have it always running, and hold shift to walk. No need for commands etc, just hit caps to it's always running/walking, whatever you prefer.

I tried those and stuff still pops in too close. The bandit camp near whiterun pops up 50 feet from me.

the problem is in the console commands from another, older build of game engine and they are not working in current one - simple.
i suggest to wait for release of new commands list...

Surprisingly that does the same thing. That's why I changed the ini command because I thought that was the problem.

Maybe the bug it's the lack of a key or lockpicking skills.

Wait, so to those who have tested the FOV change, does it mess up the camera with the clipping too much to a point where it is unplayable?

It resets the FOV if you only type in FOV without a number.

Hi,

Hope this is the right place to ask. I got some frame issues when AA is active.
http://www.youtube DOT com/watch?v=6ZxRaQYGWZc&feature=youtu.be

As soon as I deactivate the AA in the launcher options it runs a lot smoother. There is still some fps drop in some locations though.
I forced AA now through the NV control panel.

I got a pretty decent machine ( GTX460, AMD 965 Quad 3,6GHz ). Is there any known way to tweak this or let it run better?

The second thing is, I noticed some auto-adjusting of the contrast when I, for example, look up into the sky (sun) and then back to the ground it auto adjusts the brightness to some degree.
Anyway to change it in the .ini file?

Thanks in advance

It resets the FOV if you only type in FOV without a number.

It resets it to default, but the camera still clips with the arms.

This was taken just after typing "fov" into the console: http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/9598/2011111100002.jpg

Anyone figure out a way to fix this? I don't want to play the rest of this game looking through my arm like its a transparent tube.

Transparency/Adaptive AA = Bad news on some textures, too bad cause it looks great otherwise.

I'll post this here as well:

I tweaked the shadows and they're now ok, but when I get close to shadows and look down, http://i40.tinypic.com/351cx3c.jpg. And when I look up again, http://i44.tinypic.com/xmk2f9.jpg. Anyone else got this problem? How to fix it?

My shadow settings:

iBlurDeferredShadowMask=0
fInteriorShadowDistance=3000.0000
fShadowDistance=8000.0000
iShadowSplitCount=2
fShadowLODStartFade=250.0000
iShadowMode=3
bTreesReceiveShadows=1
bDrawLandShadows=1
bShadowMaskZPrepass=0
iShadowMapResolution=6144
fShadowBiasScale=0.1500
iShadowMaskQuarter=4
iShadowFilter=3
bDrawShadows=1

I've tried to change about all of them individually, but nothing has worked.

edit: Got it working, I just don't know how.. here's the working values however, shadows look great:

iBlurDeferredShadowMask=0
fInteriorShadowDistance=3000.0000
fShadowDistance=8000.0000
iShadowSplitCount=2
iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=2048
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=4096
iShadowMapResolution=4096
fShadowLODStartFade=600.0000
iShadowMode=4
bTreesReceiveShadows=1
bDrawLandShadows=1
bShadowMaskZPrepass=0
fShadowBiasScale=0.1500
iShadowMaskQuarter=4
iShadowFilter=4
bDrawShadows=1

Can someone please tell me how to disable the fog/mist effects present in interior cells? It drives my framerate down something awful. Or maybe there's a way to force Dx9?

I am skeptical of this claim, are you saying you never see actors fade in view, or grass cut off in the distance at max settings? For example the console pic of the pc outside Whiterun with the mammoths was regularly complained about as you could clearly see were the grass stopped, are you saying it goes as far as the eye can see now?

Pics please.
What I was specifically referring to was pop-in: you approach an empty space and then suddenly — surprise! — there's a rock there. Grass does have a cut-off rendering distance, as does everything else in the game, but the distance is quite far away. In http://steamcommunity.com/id/pelagius/screenshot/632982493472625247 of the bandit camp near Whiterun (Ultra quality draw distances), the Bandit is just three or so pixels thick, but I can identify him and point him out by his movement (this was as far back as I could get before the hills got in the way). I'm interested in messing around with grass draw distance, though.

For grass there seems to be a hard limit to the render distance, something like 10,000 or 15,000.

There's a way to do it and it sticks throughout the game.
