Skyrim PC ini and console tweaks

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 12:02 am

There's a way to do it and it sticks throughout the game.

Do you happen to know where that method is mentioned?

FoV resets every time I bring up the map. Game developers really should start putting FoV in the video settings.

Yeah, sometimes it will stick and sometimes it goes back to something like 50. Luckily its easy to just pull up the console and fix, but it would be nice for it to stick.

Well, my FOV setting doesn't change after I restart the game. But I didn't change it in the ini file.

I just opened the console ingame and typed "ov 85"

A question about Nvidia cards. For Oblivion, I was force enabling many options like Ambient Occlusion, AF, AA w/HDR and so on through an Oblivion profile in the Nvidia control panel. Have you noticed whether you can create a profile for Skyrim in the Nvidia utility?

Looks like someone's already on it with a utility and a screenshot to show you what to set.

Anyone know of a way to turn off health regeneration via an .ini tweak?

FOV changes back over time. THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE IT STICK.
I have found that if you enter menus or the map while running, then FOV sometimes reverts. Entering them while standing still is okay for me.

If people would actually care to search, you need to edit this [censored] in the .ini file to make sure it sticks.

Can someone confirm if ToggleDebugText (tdt) is working ? it doesn't do anything with me when i type either of them in and i prefer to have the fps showing calculated by the game itselve, not by fraps.

is there another command for showing fps ingame through the console ?

edit:

cool i somehow got the help command working

i remember trying to type this command before but it didn't display anything now when i type help i see all the functions and command lines and global variables and such before i wasn't

for example if i type "Help Debug 0" it shows me all the global variabeles, functions, scripts etc that has the wordt Debug in it :)

i did write some other commands before that i found by hex editing the game's exe file so maybe i activated it somehow or it was always enabled

typing help fps 0

shows me a command for showing fps timings but i still don't actually see anything on the display

here are 2 screenshots from the help thingie i get :

http://imageshack.us/g/638/tesv2011111212433058.jpg/

pretty fun messing around with all the things :)

I have fdefaultfov=85 in my [censored] ini file in like 4 places. In Skyrim.ini under General and Display and also in SkyrimPrefs a couple times. My FOV does not stay at 85. Please, tell us where this secret place in the ini file is where I can make the FOV stick.

Hello,

Is it possible to change "1 to 8" hotkeys like in Oblivion (via ini file), or directly ingame ?
Thanks in advance.

You can set whatever you want to onto the numbers 1-8, but you can't change the numbers 1-8, if that's what you mean.

Great thread!

Is there a way to disable the "Your Hidden Eyeball icon"? Looks stupid and interferes with stealthy ninja archery -especially now that my crosshairs are off

anyone want to find out wether other console commands work? i checked what was in "help" and there seems to be some. i dont remember any that worked in oblivion but i guess most of them would work or would be almost the same.
i liked the ones where you could unlock doors and stuff, i always have one character with which i play for fun ONLY and one i play the story with.. hmm.. what do you think?

Just ignore the .ini and do fov 85 in the in-game console. It sticks across sessions and save-games, but I have noticed that it can reset itself if you go into a menu while doing something that changes the FOV (sprinting or zooming with the bow both change your FOV temporarily, for example).

When that happens, it takes only three keypresses to fix it (Tilde, Up arrow, Enter to recall and send the previous fov 85 command).

Thanks for the tweaks! But is it just me or does the FOV reset on fast travel?

I haven't noticed it. Again, it's likely you were sprinting or something when you went to the map screen, and that's what reset the FOV.

Ultra settings (or else put all sliders to full in the launcher), and turn bLandShadows and bTreesReceiveShadows on in SkyrimPrefs.ini.

Would there happen to be some variable or.. something.. that could disable, or lower the quality of the objects during loading screens?
