I heard there's head-bobbing in thew game. I hope there's an ini-value to disable that.
It is barely perceptible. It's just enough to make it feel like you're not mysteriously floating over the terrain. I would say that the crosshair shifts up and down maybe five pixels or so only.

Is there a "bAllowConsole" variable in the .ini like there was in Oblivion? Or does the console just work out of the box?

My eyes might be lying to me but looking at the screens with the changed FOV setting it seems the lighting on the ground coming from the candles is gone on all screenshots except the one with the default FOV.

You seem to be right, it could be that he hasn't moved or loaded a new save on each change of the FOV and it's saved the position of the lighting etc?

It's because all of the shots except the default FOV one were taken with the console active. The console obscures the lower half of the screen, and it is a transparent grey color. Can see it more clearly in the larger images, but I wanted to keep the console in the shots.

You can even see the console text, mouse cursor, and typing caret in the bottom-left quadrant. :P

Thanks for this. I wonder why the tree shadows are disabled but they exist in game, you'd think they'd allow the option.

I was clutching at straws but I blame it on the fact I couldn't properly see the screenies through the red mist that covers my eyes every time I remember people are playing it and I'm not.

I'm not super savy on knowing what files do what, but is this so far the only .ini file that's tweak-able?

or that allows for more graphical options through tweaking?

Just wondering if this is going to be the only experimenting I need to do.

Also, can Skyrim be running while the file is being edited?

Hehehehehe. It's a nice change for Aussies. Pretty much every game gets released everywhere else first, and we wait a few days and not just a few hours for it to arrive here.

It seems that these two files (Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini) are the main ones for end-users. I had a quick look around in the game folder and didn't find much else (I think there is a SkyrimPrefs.ini there, but it is the default template file).

And you can edit it while playing, but the changes won't take effect until you restart the game.

Probably the payoff isn't too great, little added graphic quality, but a high performance hit? Just guessing.

And yes, FOV is changeable, Thanatos. Type FOV followed by a number into the in-game console. The OP has comparison screenshots of different values.
Any performance hit? Since there is 'more' on screen with a wider view you'd think it would have a performance tradeoff....

Yes, like in every game. Potentially a very large one, but my rig does not suffer at all.

Anyway to increase the LOD for everything? One of the biggest immersion breakers for me is texture and object pop ins.

I feel like we should merge this thread with my thread.

Regarding the LOD thing, I think in Fo3 there was a few settings you could increase to ridiculous values so you would literally render the entire world at once. I might have a look through the .ini file when I actually get the game.

Aside from adjusting the LOD in the game launcher, there are also .ini variables in SkyrimPrefs.ini that handle it. This should be unnecessary, though: there is no pop-in when you've got the LOD and draw distance sliders maxed in the launcher (or if there is, I haven't noticed it).
