Turn undead spell? Excellent! I used to toy around a lot with dead NPC's bodies once I had acquired the Necromancer's staff

Oh and a big yay to the 100 + subquests ... I was kinda disappointed when playing Fallout 3 after Oblivion

I really like the randomized quests part. That means we will never run out of things to do, hopefully.

Thanks man! I like the part about 20 minor cities. DON'T READ WHATS IN THE SPOILER TAGS! BIG ASS SPOILER IMO!

Damn... the compass is back... No spellmaking? There better be a reason for that.

Yes, a tool that points north is back. Does not mean it will give directions in quests.

Yay for not reading the spoiler :celebration: That info is great, I just wish they would keep spell crafting. I like the 20 minor cities with 10+ buildings.

You can't create spells anymore because the magic system has been totally revamped. Get out of the Oblivion mindset. "Oh no, I won't be ale to creature the cheap 100 points of charm for 1 second spell!"

It just dawned upon me: Were we not told that spells will now be charged? There would not be a need to modify the spells then - except for possibly being limited to one effect. Want a 20 damage fireball? Hold button for two seconds. Want a 100 damage fireball? Hold it for 10 seconds. Damage and thus charge time getting lower with higher skill, of course.
Awesome.

And now there will be [censored]storms.

You might check the forums above this thread again. It is already done, since Bethworks used it since New Vegas and upcoming games were quietly snuck into the Steam store first. People were early on the complaints. ^_^

Mankar [censored]ing Camoran, what is going on here?

No birthsigns, no spellmaking, minor cities with 10 buildings (I wouldn't even call that a village).

And feels like less content overall.

That the compass is back is good, it's the quest arrow which people are worried about.

Thats a good point, but they could have at least limited the power of spellmaking. They didn't have to eliminate it completely.

The compass may pop up during a fight, but it may be just that, a N, S, E, W compass with no magical triangles showing you where to go. Can someone explain if Steamworks is the same thing they used for FONV? That drove me nuts and I swore I'd never buy another game again that used Steam....just not sure if that's the same thing...thanks.

As far as not being able to make your own spells....that really confuses me. It's been a hallmark of the series and it was stated before that it was 80+ spell effects. Certainly, if they are spell effects that means you can design your own spells.

Lastly, I'd like to see if someone can confirm that Birthsigns are out. Very frustrated, if this is true. Birthsigns really helped shape your character early on and some, like the antronach, would serve you well the entire game.

Thanks very much for sharing the info, but I'm a bit disappointed by the news.

But hmmm... the 100+ sub quests? Once I'd done everything in Oblivion, it came out to like 305 quests completed. Maybe all the DLC added 200 quests?

Well I'm wondering about spell creation being out. Does that means a fire spell gets stronger as your destruction increases. Would make sense given the flamethrower ability. It also makes the 85 spell that much more dynamic, given each one can be used differently. Seems promising.

Edit:Soulgems refill magic, yes! Pure mages don't need alchemy. That's good to here.

-the hud appears only when you fight. you will see the three status bar and the compass (sigh)

Since it appears only in combat I don't see any reason to sigh :). I mean, are you going to be carefully noting the direction of quests while fighting? Really??

I'm guessing that it will simply indicate the directions of enemies and allies, so you can hunt down an enemy that's fleeing (or has got stuck behind a tree :)) or so you can run to the aid of the NPC you're escorting and who's fled down the road a way before being attacked by a bandit.

Wow, a ton of that information contradicts the information from Power Unlimited. I dont trust these foreign-langauge translations right now.

Anyways, most of what I hear is good news. 75% dynamic quests though? Well, I hope that some of these are set by factions you join, not just by random people running up to you, like they've said before.

No spell creation? Please, this has got to be wrong.
No birthsigns? Well we saw that one coming. Truth hurts even more now, though.

And just 100 subquests!? Even Oblivion had more than 200.

Agreed. A compass is a must have IMO. Why would people complain about a simple tool that points north, but a frikken GPS map, that's all good..

Well they did say they were still seeing if spell creation could get in, but is currently not in, so maybe we'll get lucky, I'd rather that there's certain spells I can't blend, than overall complete inability to create spells.

Wow, Tamriel seems like a much harsher place now.
In addition to the
Spoiler
execution instead of our regular prison beginning
we have:

-the hud appears only when you fight. you will see the three status bar and the compass (sigh)

"Which direction am I going? Hey you over there!" POW! "Aha, it's east".

-soulgems are also used to regain magicka

And apparently Umbriel's soul-eating ways have become commonplace in Tamriel now.

They're mostly randomly-generated, too? Side Quests were one of the best parts of Oblivion, in my opinion. Also, R.I.P. spellmaking in TES series (1994-2011). :(

Twenty minor cities? Nice! This game seems to be making the fullest of its overworld and I'm really looking forward to stumbling upon lively, populated settlements on my own.

Kind of disappointed about spell creation and birthsigns, though.

All the info sounds good, except that there's no spell-making. *Sigh* We can only hope there will be a much larger variety of spells than Oblivion.

Well, here it is, some new/old informations for you.
Great!

-Skyrim size is equal to Oblivion's Cyrodiil
Hope it feel larger, like Vvardenfell!

-There are 5 major cities, 20 minor cities and 100+ dungeons (but we already know that)
Wow, that much? nice.

-there are fishes that jump out of the water :P
To attack, or only for visuals.

-the hud appears only when you fight. you will see the three status bar and the compass (sigh)
Hope it is only the compass, and does not mark the quest targets and all the interesting points around.

-the UI is really user freindly but it's not intended to be mouse-used
Hope it is really user friendly, and for PC too.

-every weapon has a damage stat and a block stat
Great news, you attack with each weapon in each hand, and when you use both simultaneously, you block with both.

-it appears that there are no birthsigns
Hope they guessed it wrong.

-there is a separate control system for the pc
Great news. :)

-there is a "local map" for every zone of Skyrim
Like in MW and OB?

-there are 100+ subquests
Hope we have both quantity and quality.

-you can't create spells. WHAT THE HELL??
In order to remove the chance to make game breaking spells, not the best solution, but effective.

-there are houses which you can buy
Great!

-there are many puzzles in the dungeons
The more the merrier!

-cities, dungeons etc will be added to the 3d map as soon as you encounter them
Also I hope the places that are not discovered are covered under a cloud or fog as well.

-water physics
Flowing water like in Minecraft?

-every town has an economic system
Muhahahahaa.

-minor cities contains 10+ buildings
This sounds too good, lots of populated places.

-75% of the quests are dynamic. even the rewards and the quest giver are randomized
Great, hope they pull it off decently. Should wait and see.

-snow is not a texture (I don't get it, why a magazine says that is a texture and the other one says the opposite?)
I think this is a bump mapped texture overlay, or shall we say decal?

-bandits in the dungeons are alive and not puppet-like
Bring them on!

-soulgems are also used to regain magicka
Great!

-you can set oil on fire
Want to see the usage for this effect.

-the npcs which give us the main quests are immortal
What? I thought that we could even kill Esbern.

that's all
Thanks for the great news. :)
