Skyrim Lag?

Post » Mon Feb 16, 2015 4:07 am

When I start up Skyrim the game automatically sets it to high detail as it should since my PC is more than capable of running the game with me current specs, but when I am actually playing the game is very slow and lagging. Would anyone know a way to fix this? Here are my specs:

Processor AMD FX™-4130 Quad-Core Processor Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 Memory 8.2 GB Operating System Microsoft Windows 8 (build 9200), 64-bit

Does it run better if you turn the graphics down to medium or low? That video card is actually quite weak.

I think you're going to need a more powerful graphics card. The 610 will at best pull low to medium settings.

You might try running the game from a clean boot. Shutting down some unneeded processes and services might help you get a bit more performance.

Hmm well alright then, got any recommendations for a graphics card that will get the job done and not break the bank?

Here's a list of AMD and Nvidia cards that are less than $200; most of these should get you into high to very high range graphics settings in Skyrim.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006662%2040000048%20600373033%20600423185%20600311820%204017%204814%20600364399%20600364400%20600473872%20600473873%20600487621%20600473874%20600489396%20600498737&IsNodeId=1

Check your PSU before buying anything, though. These cards draw more power than your current card, so you need to be sure your PSU has sufficient capacity.

If you'd like to hear other peoples' opinions, make a post in our http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1513020-the-community-tech-thread-no-147/. You'll get plenty of recommendations.

What's your budget, what's your CPU, and as Gator Country said above, what's your Power supply. !!!
