Skyrim Legendary Edition on PS4 (An open letter)

Post » Mon Oct 27, 2014 6:00 pm

Dear Bethesda,

Hey I've been a fan of your games for quite some time... Since I was a kid back in 1994 actually. Needless to say, I'm a bit of a fan of your work. Skyrim, for example, is no exception.

Long story short, I really think you guys should make Skyrim for PS4. It's one of the best RPG's ever made. It's a game that even years later I can still fire up and enjoy. I can't say that for many games these days.

Skyrim for PS4 would tide gamers like me over while we wait for your next big release. Don't let the lackluster release of Skyrim on PS3 be Skyrim's final mark on the Playstation platform.

Bottom line, I'd pay retail again to play, Skyrim on PS4. The legendary edition is some of your greatest work. Give us next-gen console owners a chance to enjoy it! You'd make a ton of money, without a doubt. PS4 is extremely hot right now and it's a market just waiting for that Elder Scrolls touch.

Anyway, thank you for listening and keep up the amazing work. You're my favorite game developer, hands down.

Thanks,
Kent-45

Don't forget Redguard and Daggerfall too they all need on PS4.

I agree completely. They should definitely waste time and money and take focus off of the next TES game just to bring Skyrim to the PS4. :)

(Yes, I was being ironic...)

Skyrim development is certainly over. They have moved to the next project. PS4 deserves newer games than Skyrim.

Eh, both use the old Xgine engine which is a mess to work with, so it's kinda out of the question. I would love to see a Redguard remake on the consoles though. Shame it was never released for the onsoles back in the day, they did work briefly on a PS2 version but killed it early in favor of putting all focus on Morrowind.

There wouldn't be much waste involved. All the art (HD texture DLC is available for PC already) and game data are done already, and the majority of code is portable. Shouldn't take many people to do in a relatively short period of time so they should get back the money on the sales very quickly.

Your post wasn't ironic at all, it was sarcastic.

Actually it would take much more than one might think. A lot of things must be rewritten since PS4 is 64-bit system and Skyrim is 32-bit game. It wouldn't be a simple port.

No one has still given proper reason why the porting should be done. What's the real benefit?

I'm 99% against the idea since they should be concentrating on their next project. If by some chance it does happen, then they should also give us PC players the 64-bit exe which we really, really need.

I would prefer they work on the next TES. If we're talking about remastering, it's too soon for Skyrim, why not Morrowind instead.
