Skyrim on Linux

Anyone else gonna try to get it running with Wine? It's a shame Bethesda doesn't release a Linux version.

What is Linux anyway? Sounds like some sort of vacuum cleaner. I think my dad used to install them. :D

Whenever I see people post stuff like this when in reality no one is being rude to them, it only makes me want to torture them more, lol...

Anyways, yeah. It's pretty pointless gaming on linux. You should either get windows or buy the game for a console.

Perhaps you should learn more about linux. It isn't just something to use on low end machines.

An OS besides Windows. Several distros of it float around. I would like to see a Linux version, but AMDs drivers are slightly annoying for Linux.

Anyway for OP I have my doubts that wine will run this game very well. I haven't had good experiences with wine running new games, like starcraft 2 and such but its always worth a shot. The reason it won't be released for linux is cause they want to put it on xbox 360 which requires direct x and well to get it on linux it would require something like opengl. However let me know how it goes if you do run it and it works out. I have a dual boot set up so I'll just be using windows for it.

Will do! I do hope that in the future, that there are legit options for gaming on Linux, in terms of hardware being designed for Linux, and games being designed to run natively on Linux. I guess I can understand why Bethesda wouldn't bother with a Linux version, but it really is a shame.

nothing against it, but I haven't used linux since it was a piece of crap. Don't know if its better now. But i'm guessing you have alot of problems getting new games for it.

I have nothing personally against Linux, but as there will be no Linux-version of this game and this thread seems to be rolling downhill fast; I feel it is best to lock this one.

Good luck trying out Wine and see how it may perform in running Skyrim :)
