Might want to check my post on the previous page.

And eh. Sounds to me like the last post stands and now he's backtracking as he's not allowed to point specifics. I thought the guy who spoke to him in broken sentence did so to confuse Pete and have him answer specifically about the PC which seemed to world.

After he clarified seems Pete caught on(And maybe the original asker wasn't as bright as I thought.)

Hey....calling me not bright wasn't nice. The question I typed was to try to fit in my question in one tweet and I deleted it like 3 times to try to fit something in and it didn't quite come out right. I wasn't trying to confuse anyone hehe.

The selfishness and ignorance is ASTOUNDING. How many times has it been said/reiterated in this thread that there would be graphics sliders that allow you to tone down the graphics so that they run fine on your machine? Is this ignorance or selfishness. Please clarify. Thanks

your kidding right!!

while I'm selfish thank you very much :disguise:

I'm not ignorant cause I said I DON"T CARE ABOUT GRAPHIXX I CARE MORE ABOUT GAME-PLAY, and if I can run crysis on my uber pc I can sure as hell run the most demanding games of 2010/11 on medium setting (sometimes even more, depends on game), so maybe I should explain my opinion some more, if they want the game to run on the ancient consoles they can not optimize for PC that much, so I'm GLAD that they are spending more time on the actual game and not wasting it on some new uber graphic tech.

the screens look very nice, actually they look great for me, sure they are not AMG UBER PHOTO REALIZMZ, but I simply don't care about that.

that is all.

It does not effect time as two different people can work simultaneously while not hindering each other. This is how game development works.

And are you really implying that adding support for a couple features on PC will cause BGS to run out of development money?

When the developers of games like MUCH lower budget games like Metro 2033, Alien VS Predator, Mirrors Edge, World in Conflict, Red Faction etc etc etc etc can do so with ease?

Even in the form of FREE post release patches on games that did not sell all that well?

No, that's not what I'm implying. But it's apparent to me that I'm getting too tired to argue well, so I'll just stop trying. To sum up my thoughts quickly: Personally, I'm happy about this, because it will benefit me. It's a selfish reason, but it's the truth.

Oh, and Mirrors Edge was terrible, it doesn't matter how small their budget was, the game was fundamentally flawed in almost everyr espect, it looks great and that was it.

The devs are getting better with their engine. I don't know what should be bad about that.

Fair enough. The only thing I am saying, is had they added a little extra PC support, all of us PC users (that made BGS back in the days before OB) would be happy campers. Those with consoles would be happy because the game would still look great for consoles. And those with older PC's would still be happy because it would look great even with the sliders down a bit, and when they DID upgrade in the future, their favorite game would look even better.

Instead of the current situation where many people are unhappy.

No one here expects Crysis level PC support. But we do expect more than nothing.

And I have no opinion on Mirrors Edge, as I own it, but have not played it yet. I have heard mixed things. It was just an example of a studio with a low budget adding in cutting edge PC tech to their game.

Also don't my posts wrong, this is just a friendly discussion/argument, as you seem like a rather good poster.

Damn even though I fully expected this......As a PC fan ( I do play xbox) I find this kinda upsetting. Really, limiting everything to console specs makes me rage...I'll end it here.

I hope they have more options then in previous games.

I get the feeling that Beth doesn't even really care about graphics that much. Which is probably a good thing. I don't really give a darn what the graphics look like, just give me a world with some flavor. :)

Alright, I'm going to concede and say that you are in fact correct, and that I wasn't really thinking things through when i heard this at first. I don't like to make mistakes, but it happens and this was one of those times. I know it sounds like I'm backpedalling furiously, that's because I am, I admit that :P

EDIT: Allthough, i will add this. Even if the game could potentially look better, does it really matter? I mean, chances are it'll look great on the PS3 for example, isn't it good enough to have a game that looks great, even if it could possibly look a little bit better?

i looked at this in 3 ways

1: bethesda dont give a crap. and the pc version will be less optimised than the console one :cryvaultboy:

2: bethesda have done such an amazing job optimising the game on all platforms that we wouldent notice that its a console game

3: bethesda secretly threw in dx11- because they can- but didnt tell anyone because they dont want to make the console version sound inferior

"No DX10/11" - a piece of me just died
"Will look the same as on XBOX360" - a lot of me just died

Why don't they release it for PS1 and scale down the quality of all other versions along with it - same logic

It's like ff13 all over again " :twirl: do the bottleneck with me, come on!!1 :twirl: "

Are you seriously comparing Skyrim to the genuinely insulting garbage Square Enix expects people to pay for? Skyrim may not be the perfect game, we don't know that, but wow...

Well this is terrible news. And I was going to UPGRADE my system to play it. Guess I can sell my existing parts and buy older things at a profit. Thanks Bethesda.

I hate how companies only develop for consoles. Hate it! Can't wait for UI pictures. Probably going to be brutal.

You know there is a mod kit, console players don't get that, most companys don't include such comprehensive tools that give your game massive amounts of extra content. Man I am getting screwed on pc, darn.

I still don't know why people are so bent out of shape on graphics when they haven't see the game in action and only have seen a few hi-res screens, none of which show off the lighting. I mean, the screens in the mag look sweet when they have the direct lighting in them but they aren't hi-res. This games graphics are VERY good, people just are having preconceptions about the graphics when they haven't see it in true action.

People love to complain, allthough the amount of freakouts I've seen on the Skyrim forum over the most senseless things is starting to get rather ridiculous.

why don't you guys just get over the fact that Skyrim might not look LIKE IT'S TOTALLY ******* REAL and just enjoy the game the way the good people at Bethesda have been making it? If you're so p-oed that your hella-expensive computers can't warp you into another dimension, then why don't you go work as a developer and make the games like you want them.

I mean, honestly people, be thankful for what you get...

It's like Final Fantasy 13, a game that was started development on the PS2 all over again " :twirl: do the bottleneck with me, come on!!1 :twirl: "

Fixed that for ya sonny boy.

Lets put it this way. At least we might have 2017 or longer to look forward to, to get a TES that takes advantage of 2007 graphics technology.

Of course the graphics matter! It was what made adventuring in Cyrodiil so wonderful. It WILL ruin the experience of an open-world RPG if the graphics aren't great.

Don't get me wrong, I think the game will suprise a lot of people with just how good it really looks in motion. I think the game will be wonderfull looking.

That said, I think with the smallest amount of extra support, it could really live up to its potential on the PC. And for the most part, it will, but the community will have to do it, and it will take years. That is my only issue.

Don't mistake my point for thinking Skyrim will look bad, I think on 360/PS3 the game will be breathtaking. Between the new lighting system, better LoD system, Improved Character and Facial Models, Larger Draw Distances, New animation and physics, new foliage and particle effects, I think Skyrim will really be a looker.

Alright, I'm going to concede and say that you are in fact correct, and that I wasn't really thinking things through when i heard this at first. Good to see people can actually compromise on internet forums

And as I said above, I do think that Skyrim will look great on all platforms, and I am not one of the naysayers who thought the GI screens looked bad or like oblivion 2.5. On the contrary I think the game looks stunning. However, as a TES fan I want to see the game live up to its full potential, and ignoring the fact that PC hardware is more than a generation ahead of current console hardware is not living up to its potential.

All said and done, Skyrim will look and hopefully play amazing. I just hope I wont be left thinking it COULD have looked better. Even in the big scheme of things, it matters not.

this is logical, you code to the lowest and shuffle it out to all others. For this reason, and the fact that PC is less accessible, leaves me to the conclusion that PC gaming is dying
guess I'll just get this for the 360

why dont we make the game for the atari 2600. mine still works. Or why not Wii and have that as the baseline?

Well, I personally see this as a non-issue, and maybe even a good thing, I mean I just bought an Alienware so I was interested to see how it would fair in comparison but I think this just further makes me think I will atleast first buy the Xbox 360 version because of the controller, bigger screen and now equivalent graphics, and wasn't that always the case anyways? And I am pretty sure Bethesda knows what it is doing and the graphics look pretty decent as they are anyways. Although I understand people's concerns, PC gamers do have a sense of elitism, although I really do think a new Xbox should come out soonish.
