Skyrim looking like Oblivion

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:30 pm

It all adds to the immersion.

Do people need to be staring at something that looks exactly like real life to have imagination anymore? I remember when I was younger, I immersed myself in simple sprite based games like Mario :\

I'm not saying everyone can or should be like that, but come on. The graphics look fantastic! Just think where gaming was only a few years ago! This game looks incredible compared to things we used to be able to see in open world games, but a few games decide to focus more on incredible graphics, and suddenly you can't accept anything less?

Oblivion looks as realistic as it needs to for any "immersion" or role playing purposes for me.

Everyone always says "GRAFICKS > GAMPLAEY LOL", but everyone complains about graphics the second they see a sub-par texture? >_>

Yes, it does, but for many many people, It does not even fall into that category.

If you won't buy the game purely because of graphics. Well, your loss.

If realistic/amazing graphics = immersion, does that make Morrowind super-duper crap?

It's POSSIBLE for me to play Oblivion on my backup 7 year old laptop. But the settings I have to use for it make it look like crap - certainly crappier than older games that are actually designed for the 7 year old system.

Well your argument "Don't make graphics prettier. I want to play Skyrim on my 7 year old crappy laptop!" is completely wrong.
No matter how high the graphics are, they can always be scaled. And they would always look as crappy as before.

Wow you really dont know what you're saying do you? That is the most supid comment i have ever heard! I think the graphics look amazing and way better than Oblivion, and not only the graphic looks nice, also all the new stuff they've added and not only perks (which btw sounds awesome!) looks cool. Think before you speak. pretty dum and unnecessary comment

First off, if you turn down games, especially the Elder Scrolls series because of graphics, then you don't deserve to play it in the first place.
Second of all, you've only seen magazine scans and those graphics are damn better than Oblivion's.

But I guess troll be trollin'.

From what ive seen, Skyrim looks exatly like Oblivion exept with a new engine and a few perks. For 6 years of development im expecting Crysis 2 graphics for a 2011 game. with todays technology, the game looks terrible compared with other newer games. Even Inde games can do better. Looks like I wont be buying this game after all.

Why do you people keep comparing to Crysis? Crysis is a FPS made with jaw drop graphics in mind.
Let's do a fair comparison with the other RPGs of 2011. What about comparing Skyrim graphics to The Witcher 2, Two Worlds 2 and Dragon Age 2 instead?

Guys, he's just a [censored] troll. Actually, I can't tell if he's serious or not.

OP: Here, OP! READ BELOW!
1. Yup, Minecraft, an indie game, sure as hell looks better than this...
2. What are you talking about? It already looks awesome, but I agree that there is some room for improvement, as I will state below...
3. They are not finished with the game.
4. They are not finished with the game.
5. They are not finished with the game.

Minecraft is awesome and it ISNT the only Indie game out there you know.. Red Nation and Overgrowth both look great.

It does seem like that: the more we're shown, the less we imagine, and the more we then need to see. The same argument can be made for most anything but gameplay, though (eg, roleplaying).

It's like saying you wouldn't go out with an awesome girl that was 8/10 in looks, but would rather have a 10/10 that's terribly boring/annoying.

I completely disagree with the OP.

Folks, it's against the rules to call someone a troll or infer that they are one. We warn folks every day for such. :nono:

This thread isn't going well so far and there are many open threads discussing graphics. Please choose one and use it for your beefs about graphics.
