Not going to vote since Skyrim is the only game I've played on that whole list.

Oh so Zelda is? Please...
As much as I love the Zelda games, there's really nothing new about them, it's the same basic story structure and gameplay coupled with my happy memories of playing it years ago.
People there are voting for the Zelda games as a series, instead of voting for the game only. The reason their voting for the series as a whole is because of the stark similarities between every single game.

I haven't played those zelda [censored] and most likely I never will. BUT those who are familiar with the series please explain this to me... do you really have to save the same blond haired elf [censored] from the bad guys' [censored] in every game? If it's true, this franchise is almost as pathetic as Twilight

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Now I can go vote for Zelda because I really don't think a train wreck (A fun train wreck mind you) like Skyrim deserves any sort of game of the year recognition.

If it had been released with minimal bugs and it wasn't so easy to completely break the game (I'm looking at you enchanting/smithing) without even trying it *might* be worthy of a GOTY title.

As it is though? No, not a long shot imo. Consumers need to stop sending the message to game companies that it's okay to release a game way before it should have been released.

Skyrim deserves GOTY without much doubt, anyway, this is nothing more than a popularity contest. If It came down to voting, probably Lady Gaga would be elected as the best musician of all time.

Your right. And that Lady Gaga example made me visibly retch and shudder, congrats :D

To be shown on TV.

G4 airs this?

@ OP: I don't really feel right voting since I haven't played SS, although I'm hopefully getting the special edition for Christmas.

I'll vote for it next year, when the game is properly patched and the overhaul mods are out.

That is your opinion, and mine is that it deserves GOTY.

Cheers. :foodndrink:

Same goes for Skyrim. Zelda's appeal is actually pretty ageless.

Zelda winning the poll doesn't mean it's a better game, it means people who care about winning polls are more probably Zelda fans than TES fans. :whistling:

Incorrect. This is a scientifically valid empirical poll. The results will require one game to post that it lost this poll on future copies, directly on the packaging, while allowing the winning game to post that it is the best game of 2011 on the actual disk, and in a small box in the middle of the screen during gameplay.

and more Zelda fans may have signed up at that site than TES fans.

Since I have to log in to vote, requiring me to register, I'm not voting.

I've been a TES fan for a long time now, but I can't in good conscience vote for this as goty (I also will not vote for any other game, since I haven't played any other new games this year). There were just too many bugs even for initial release. I also think that Todd Howard oversold some of the game's capabilities when he did all those interviews and demos, such as how good the radiant AI was and NPC interaction. Don't get me wrong, its a very good game, I just don't feel like it's entitled to my vote for goty.

I also agree with what the one guy said about voting for TLOZ as a series.

It is very possible that people are voting for SS just because it's a Zelda game, and they haven't even played it.

Either way, I'm not voting since I don't have SS.
