And there it is ! The mix is done. It looks quite better, to my view. Here is a link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl3SGuIjCX8
I've also done a "No Choirs" version, on this link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzqvR-We4FQ

Enjoy ! And please give some feedback !

God, I love 6/8 time! It just makes for epic sounding movenents! I thought the mix was very good. It definitely shows that you put a lot of time into it. I've spent my fair share of time in the studio recording so I know how much work it takes to put something like this together. I would like to ask some questions on your recording/mixing if you don't mind and some questions on Cubase if I may?

How many tracks do you have?
Can you auto-mix with cubase?
What did you use to play and record the tracks and what interface do you use? (The Steinberg C12 maybe? :hubbahubba: The reason I ask is I'm thinking about getting one.)
Are the long reverbs on the drums post fade? (sound really good, and not too muddy for a low frequency loooonnnggg verb, lol)

What's most impressive is that you've developed such a great ear to pick apart all the orchestration, record it yourself and do such a superb job on mixing with only a year of experience. That's pretty damn impressive if you ask me!

Other things that really stood out (that I ALWAYS have trouble with, lol) are the crescendos when the horns kick in (just before the choir part), when the cymbals build up and on the timpani at the end.

Cheers and much kudos. :foodndrink: :celebration:

Nice, you should release this as a modders resource.

Neat. It's what you'd use if you downloaded a "classy" mod that makes everyone into an upper-class British dandy. "Dreadfully sorry about getting that goblin blood on your armor, old chap, but you know how it is with these ruffians." *adjusts monocle*

Thanks ! Well, I'll try to answer to the most of your questions, but you know, I just know the basic stuff for Cubase (Freeze the tracks, add reverb, compression, maximizer ...)

So, I have about 40 tracks, I've done the half on another project, and then I export the tracks one by one to save some flash memory. The drums I used (Stormdrum) are especially heavy on the project.

About the reverb on the drums, it's the natural reverb of the samples (StormDrum are very good plugs, very powerful and epic).

To record the tracks, I've used my MIDI keyboard. I play piano, so I've played all the tracks manually, and then rearrange the velocity, some quantification (I don't know if it's the same word in english ...), and, because I have no mod wheel, I've draw them manually.

For the crescendos, it's also the plugs. This are real crescendos recording for the trumpets, the horn, and the voices. For the violin, simply Tremolos with crescendos of the mod wheel and the volume (classic but effective)

For the other reverb, I've used CSR, it's sounds pretty good.

Thanks about the mix ! You know, it's my first real mix alone. I've began to know how to mix not a week ago ! And for the pick appart of all the tracks, that's what toke me the most of time. I think I've heared the track about a hundred of time !

Thanks again !

And thanks to the others ! It really cheers me up in this exams period !

I wonder whot would you do to yourself if they released the official version just before you've finished yours :touched:

Anywhay, that was absolutely amazing. Are you proffessional or amateur? If latter, it's even more amazing :goodjob:

Ah ah ! If they had released it before, I would be happy, because transcribe from the trailer with the dragon shouts and other stuff ... And god I love this music !

And I'm amateur.

Thanks !

Well, I have to say, I wasn't expecting it to be that good. I thought it might be decent, but you did do a really good job there.

Of course, synthesized choirs are always going to sound a little off--there's a limit to what you can do with that. Which got me thinking... I know that the chorals are a key part of the Skyrim theme, but I was wondering if you had considered doing a non-choral version--just going straight orchestral/instrumental. You would have to reinterpret the choral parts, of course, but it might be interesting.

Anyway, that's just an idea. Great job!

Thanks ! And I've released a "No Choirs" version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzqvR-We4FQ), but I've simply taked of the choirs, I haven't found a instrument that could fit, because the melody is made by the choirs but also by the trumpets, the horns, the harp and the woods ...

This is really an absolutely amazing adaption! Love it, especially as it shows what can be done with virtual instruments.

One thing, though: as you write that you are using EWQLSC for the choirs starting at 01:13 - did you use the WordBuilder integrated in SC or just the plain voices?

Keep up the great work!

Thanks ! Well, at 0:52, It's the patch with all the vowels (here the oh), and at 1:13, It's the same patch. I've spend hours trying to make the wordbuilder sound good, but It's sounds too electronic ! And moreover, I have problems with the Wordbuilder on Cubase ...

Thanks ! It's very hard to make virtual choirs sound more powerful, but I'll do my best !
