Blasphemous, right? This is NO flame thread, I swear. I'd care to not admit how many hours I poured into WoW (primarily PVP, very little raiding), and now I'm creeping up on 300 hours of Sky time. Although, I still have never completed the Main, and really don't care too. What I mean by this thread, is why does Skyrim make me want to return to WoW? No other RPG from Beth, or any for that matter have ever caused this reaction. I love the game, the game world, and all that. But in reality I think I care very little about the plot of Skyrim, as I feel it's too shallow, and broken for that matter. My decisions in the game matter little. Much in the same way as I felt about WoW. I was all about the gear (of course), the pretty cartoony environment, and showing off in Ogr or Stormwind (which is what I referred to Solitude as for the 1st couple weeks of playing Skyrim).
I stopped RPing in Skyrim awhile ago when I was saddened to figure out that good or bad don't mean squat. So now what do I do? I dungeon crawl for loot, and try to get every achievement in the game.
I think this WoW feeling also comes from these forums. No other game (besides WoW) have I read so much WoW lingo being thrown around, i.e. "toon", "Death Knight", "Hunter", "DPS", "Tank", "Shaman", "Pots", "AOE", etc.etc. Factor that in with the 'perk trees' and then sprinke in the fact I play melee class only in 3rd person and the thought is sealed.
So to create an actual topic of this, do you guys feel at all the same? Do you think the devs did this purposely knowing 10 million+ WoW players might very well be buying Skyrim. I would think the WoW/TES crowd would be bitter rivals, but maybe I'm wrong. Please let's discuss!
